Figured out why I don't like the look of the M2
The body lines are too similar. The bottom of the bumper cover, the door, the side mirror and the rear quarter are all too similar. I don't like the new Mustangs. Since the 2's came out I just haven't 'felt it' for them. Couldn't put my finger on quite why until recently. And being the Mustang came out before the 2, it's like the 2 was taking notes. |

There are some similarities but to be fair that's a good looking mustang for a change.

I found the look of the M2 verbose and overdone at first, but it has seriously grown on me to the point where I actually really like it, and wouldn't mind owning one. My friend shot some great photos of the M2 in it's various colors at a recent BMW CCA gathering.

The m2 is so last year. :
Seriously though I agree with the OP. Although I actually kind of like the mustang.

Here's a short video that compares the two cars at a drag strip. This is the European Mustang and there are some visual and performance differences between the US Mustang and the European Mustang. I'm posting this mainly for the visual comparison.

I looked at a couple v6's before I bought my 1. I was not impressed with them at all. The 300hp v6 sounded appealing, but wasn't. At all. car felt heavy and numb. Granted the GT is probably leaps ahead and I should drive one but I'm satisfied with what I have for now. I've just been looking at the 2's because after mine is paid off I might want one. So I'm trying to like it for the next car. But I just don't yet. |

2s are ugly. Something about the nose. Not saying this because I drive a 1. 2s are ugly, I will never own that car.

Too each his own. That's why they make different cars
With the extensive evolution in minimizing drag to increase gas mileage, most cars in a particular class tend to look very similar because science is pushing everyone to the same place.
Personally I like the M2 over the M1 because I think the M1 is too stubby for all those fender flairs and needs to have more length to reduce its boxiness. However, my vote does not mean much because I prefer the ride of the non-M cars for a daily driver, so I'd not buy either car now or in the future. |

I have to agree here. The front looks good by itself. However together as a whole package the front is very busy and the rest of the car is very tame, especially the Honda rear end.

Actually I think the M2 is fine - but I've felt for years like the M4 (not the M2) looked too much like the newer Mustangs (or voce- versa - I don't know hwo seemed to be copying who).
So yeah, make your same comparison using the M4 instead of the 2, and you'll be shocked at the similarity.
