Michelin Pilot Sport 4S
It is time for new tires, I am thinking with my OEM 19' rims no mod:
Michelin Pilot Sport 4S front 255/35ZR19 rear 275/35ZR19 If anyone have this combo, please describe your experience with these tires on the 1M. Thanks. |

not sure if you asking regarding size, grip, durability, noise(?) i've been running the PS4's in the stock sizes 245/265 on the stock 19's and they are nothing to really write home about. quiet and decent grip, no problems in the rain obviously, as a tire for everyday drivability (summer), dont think i could name a better tire, if you wanted real grip you would have to go lower treadwear

Help needed here! The guy from tire shop told me 255/275 combo won't work for the 19" OEM 1M rims. He said the 255 275 tires would be "shorter and narrower". I don't really understand, I am going up one size from 245 265, how can that be narrower, and shorter (35 on both).

I have the PS4S in 255/275 on the oem rims. I'm also on H&R springs with the revised front fender liners. Also running 10mm spacers all around.
I do notice that they offer much better grip than the PS2s, however up front the initial turn-in response isn't as crisp. I did read somewhere that this is a known characteristic for the PS4S. Not sure if this is made worse by going up to a 255 over the 245? They do fit fine however. I have a little rubbing when reversing at full lock on the passenger side (likely due to the spacers). FWIW we have 9" and 10" wheels which is the same as F80 wheels which have the same 255/275 tires, so rest assured they'll fit fine. If you're at stock ride height and stock ET then you'll have no problems at all. If I could do it again I might go with stock sizes or 245/275 to help keep that steering feel. ...just my opinion

I have been running those sizes [255 and 275/35/19's] on OEM rims for years, but with different tires... Continental DWS's and now Michelin Pilot Sport A/S 3+... I do have the "revised" front liners. I have had no problems with the one size up set-up. They sure look good but not sure they help much otherwise [off the track].

I have been running on the ps2 tires since new and bought 2 sets since my 1st tire change....
Unfortunately the tire appears to be discontinued, which makes sense after all these years it may be a 10 year old tire design. Question I those that have mounted either the pss or the new ps4 in the stock 245/265 19” size. Can you describe: 1. Initial turn in feel from centre ? 2. Under steer or over steer when compared to the ps2? 3. Any tire float (ie. when running in the rain?) 4. Grip difference when compared to the ps2? I had a set of pss tires mounted once that were not Bmw star rated and the car understeer terribly!!! I wish to retain the stock characteristics of the ps2 tire as much as possible, I don’t care about durability ... I want the same feel and no understeer. |

FYI 255/275 Bridgestone RE71R will rub the front fender liners when reversing. My car is all stock.
Seems like 255 front always has the same issue with rubbing. |

I put stock sized PS4's on my 1M this year and it now has tremendous grip - truly feels like 2x what the PS2s had. Not sure I would want much more grip as it would away from the balance/playfulness of the car at street speed.
