I spent today three hours driving on dirty twisty roads and did multiple donuts as well. And then three hours cleaning the car. I'd say that's a time well spent.
Get out and drive & clean, people.

Double that and add 11k, and you have my mileage... I guess the PO either enjoyed the car a ton, or hated it a ton. Either way, I love it a ton!

Maybe the connector under the center console is loose/not connected?
Easy thing to miss...ask me how I know

You can remove the shift boot by just pulling gently at one of the corners until it pops out and there should be a connector right there at the bottom of the "picture frame" if I remember correctly (did this a while ago).
Also, you can remove the rear outlet module with a pry tool, and it should be attached to a connector. Here's a link that has the whole DIY for removing it (I pray that you won't have to remove it!), it has pictures of what I'm talking about: https://www.1addicts.com/forums/showthread.php?t=213833 Good luck!

Not to mention, I work from home these days. It's not uncommon for all 3 of my cars to sit unused for a few days on end. I still make sure to exercise them to blow the cobwebs out. It's nice to have choices as well. Do I want to fly under the radar or drive something fast? Or slum it in my E30 over to the golf course. Back when I did daily drive a BMW, I often wondered why I even bothered. I LOVE driving these cars, but all too often my good time is ruined by other drivers who are willfully clueless. The second I would find an opportunity to open it up, a wild Prius would conjure itself up in my lane. |

And no, those aren't scratches, it was just dirty. You can still drive your car AND take great care of it, I'm very proud of the condition of my interior despite everything I do with it. 20180326_182632 by Matt Steele, on Flickr 20170706_210718 by Matt Steele, on Flickr 20170706_210651 by Matt Steele, on Flickr

I'm in a similar situation as tock172. I work from home as well so no daily commute. For years I have been driving an '05 Jetta that seems indestructible and is completely reliable to doc appointments and for errands, and drive my 135i strictly for enjoyment.
I take my 1er out practically every day for a fun, spirited drive (the highlight of my day). I fell and hurt my knee and leg recently that's turned in to cellulitis and haven't been able to drive as much as I'd like to but that'll change soon and I'll be back to normal. |

To clarify, I'm simply making an example of the little things about my previous vehicles that have driven me crazy. My first and second 135i's are the first of several BMWs I've owned throughout the years that were not well past their prime, and I'd be lying if my obsessive nature hasn't gotten worse because of it. Part of it is having driven several other favorites of mine on a daily basis to high mileage and watching the little wear and tear that most people don't notice accumulate. Again, I probably should've just expressed all of that in the first place as opposed to coming after you, but the, "afraid" comment set me off. I have personally totaled two previous BMW's in single car, driver error accidents and am not proud of it. I'd hate for my 135i to be added to that tally, but that doesn't stop me from driving it hard when I do take it out. |
