Just noticed this.. in the pic below it appears you have a very long bolt in the subframe bushing mounting. Was this to keep the subframe aligned when you dropped it to install the RSB?

Yes, and as a safety. I got a 1 meter piece of threaded rod, cut it into four pieces, put a jack under the diff, replaced one bolt at a time with threaded rod, nuts, and washers, and dropped the whole shebang. Also, while I was working on things I just let the sub-frame sit on the nuts and washers at the ends of the threaded rod and moved the jack out of the way.

Axles are cleaning up nicely, too. All they need is a coat of paint and they're good to go. I also ordered the Zimmermann 150.3477.20 pair of 324x22 Coat Z blank rear discs directly from Germany for $162 shipped. Beats the $300+ for the Performance discs, and I didn't want the dimpled and slotted anyway.

I'm really happy with the way the axles turned out. They'll be much easier to keep clean. After a little prep I hit them with some self-etching primer followed up with Eastwood 2K gloss black chassis paint. It's got "Nano-Ceramic Technology". It's what axles crave.

130i Rear Hub Conversion
As part of the 130i hub swap I figured it was about time for new studs, so I bought a full set of Apex 75mm M12x1.5 bullet nose studs. They're well finished and have nice, clean lead-ins to the threads. I also think the bullet nose will look cleaner.
I like Apex's new (at least to me) stud design. The old ones of theirs has more of a bulge than anything else to limit thread engagement. These have a proper shoulder. Pay no attention to the crusty, old hub. .

Love the thread. And really like some of the parts that I have never seen before!
Do you know the pet numbers for: 1. Sunglasses holder 2. Grocery bag holder Also, when you have time, could you please share how you mounted your fire extinguisher? |

Thank you!
Do you think standard plastic framed Ray bans will fit in the sunglasses holder? Can you still use the thigh extender part of the seat with the extinguisher installed? I need mine fully extended.

Yes, the thigh extender still extends, but it does make getting to the quick release lever more difficult.

If you want to go cheap, I got a holder off Ebay for something like $17 and it looks fine and holds Ray-Ban Wayfarers.

Hit the hubs with some gloss black for further rust proofing and easier cleaning. I'll hit the bare metal with Boeshield after the paint cures.
This is a busy travel season for me at work so this all might take a while.

These arrived while I was away on business. A little late, but three for the price of two. $162 shipped from Germany. The labeling even cross-references the long gone BMW blank disc P/N.
