I have an Induktiv in my oddments tray in front of the gearshift. If I hadn't gotten that, I probably would have gone with a RennLine E90 ExactFit.
(assuming that the RennLine would fit) I'm ordering one of their E83 phone mounts, as I think that might work better (and I want to see if it actually *will* work). Plus, it's on clearance, so it was $44 instead of $65.

I have a Scosche magnetic wireless charging mount that I have set up in the "cupholder" - which are, of course, useless for holding cups. It plugs in to the cig outlet and I coil/store the excess wire under the armrest/console cover. If you are trying to use the phone as the nav screen, it doesn't really work, but I have wireless AA on the headunit and also a standalone Garmin GPS so the phone is not needed/used as the nav screen.

Looking at getting a ProClip myself as well, debating Center Dash vs Console.
Given the Center Dash partially blocks the center vent, has anyone had phone overheating issues with the Center Dash mount? I suspect I'm overindexing on this as a concern, and I certainly like the location better - much easier peripheral sightline vs dropping my eyes to the Console every time. |

(TBD, of course, since I'm going to be trying the E83 version in an E82)

https://www.bestbuy.com/site/anker-3...?skuId=6547358 ^ I think I actually have something cheaper and with less charging power. https://www.bestbuy.com/site/belkin-...?skuId=6477374 ^ That plugs into my phone, then I have a USB-C cable and a 3.5mm cable tucked underneath some interior trim and extending to the arm rest area plug ins for cigarette lighter / audio.

Nice! I'm lucky enough to have Bluetooth audio streaming enabled in my 2011 (no idea how lol - I don't have iDrive), but I've also had great luck with this Besign Bluetooth adapter. Plugs right into 3.5mm and takes up 1 of the USB-A ports in my charger right under the armrest. Keeps phone cabling nice and clean, just need to run the charger line.

The Rennsport phone mount arrived today. I had to do some massaging of the mount to fit where I wanted it to in the dash, but nothing anyone can't do with just a pair of pliers.
Not bad for $45 and 15 minutes of my time.

I’ll pull the trim tomorrow and take a photo of the bracket. If I were so inclined, I’d repaint it (the straightening caused the paint to flake off the bracket), but since it is under the trim, it doesn’t really bother me. |

If I were to do it over again, I might try and get a flat / pre-bent bracket from Rennline and do the bends / painting myself since the bends aren't perfect and there was definitely some deformation from having to hammer some bits flat. (come to think of it, I might just reach out to them and see if they'd be willing to sell me one)

I'm just using the Kenu airframe vent thing for an iPhone, and puts the phone in good line of site, and don't need a case for phone. Get the hang of it after a while. I use my CD player! Y'all own CDs yes? Sound pretty good in a car they do. Cheers all

Doesn't need to be heated - it's 20ga sheet metal. I hammered to flatten it out (since complex bends) and then bent using some parallel-jaw linesman pliers. What I should have done is dug up my sheet metal bender (probably what I will do if I can get a flat version with which to start from scratch).

And, unfortunately, Rennline won't sell me a blank.

It's not just how straight it is, it's how long it is to reach the screw on the dash. I might just remove it, measure it out, and see if I can get something laser cut from Send Cut Send out of slightly thicker (18ga) stainless. Then I can bend it on my bench.

I am trying out this solution from Amazon. Simple ring mag mount. I don't need all that screen space.
