118d e82 Tyre/ Wheel sizing

Currently I have Style 207s from factory on the car but am thinking about getting OEM style wheels , I’ll be getting reps since 2k Euros + is too expensive.

1)What wheel size and tyre size combinations will work ? What will look ok and also not rub/ scrape against the car itself . The car is not lowered or anything.

2)Also My tyres are almost brand new so ideally I want to swap them ( 225/45/R17 all round ) onto the new rims. However I’ve become somewhat confused .

(Bare with me , I know it’s a mouthful )Everywhere you look online my current wheels apparently only come in 17” diameter , but when I put a tape to them they are 18,5”. The sidewall of the tyre also confuses me . The tyre with is 225mm which is pretty much 9” but the side wall itself states “7 1/2J “

https://apexwheels.com/fitment-guide...reet-and-track

tire size is as follows;

- 225 is the width of the tire.

- 45 is the aspect ratio of the sidewall. so the sidewall length is 45% of the width of the tire. 225 * .45

- 17 is the diameter of the wheel.

the "Standard Rim: 7 1/2 J" is just saying that the standard with wheel for that tire size is 7 1/2. But that's not set in stone, you have wiggle room with the width of wheels and sizes of tires that you can mount to them.

Alright thanks for the link I suppose .

Well I knew how tyre sizing works maybe forget about that . I just can’t understand why the wheel measures 18.5” and when u google it there is no such thing . Just 17”

Photos below. Start of tape is broken so that’s why I started at 1ft . 6.5” past 2ft means it’s 18.5”diameter. (And I haven’t messed up that measurement , if I did it would be shorter anyway. )

ah, the functional diameter is measured inside the wheel barrel. the face of the wheel is a bit larger

your wheels are 17" and your tires confirm this since the third number is 17 as well
