$1500 for a windscreen - farque!
Took the car for its first long run and as is my luck a huge rock broke the windscreen right in my eyeline. Too big to repair.
Appaently the rain sensor, moulding and screen all need to be done. So this is where BMW make their money. Put a screen in my Sti just before I traded it - $198. BMW -$1490.

Unfortunately the policy does not cover it (but my next will when my old one runs out!) Done near Bonnie Doon. Car coming then other way the bang.
A friend of a friend who fixes screens is going to look at it later today so I will see what he says. Otherwise car ran well for the 800 KM in 3 days.

Tough luck dude! I've decided to go with Shannons for Insurance. Their windscreen policy is great - no excess and covers all windows. Definitely worth it.
Good luck with it!

Hooray! The job is done and it is a vast improvement. There is just the slightest distortion like the remains of a bug that has almost been cleaned off. You have to look real hard to find it. Sorry no photo as he began before I could do a before shot!
Grand cost of $85 and a very (financially) relieved qship! As your comments have indicated, check those policies for a free windscreen replacement. It could pay for itself very quickly. Oh - and I enjoyed cancelling the BMW screen. For the record Novus would replace the screen including the sensor for $750 or so. Whew.

I have been told to expect everything on these cars and other expensive Euro marks to be priced through the roof...they cost a fortune to buy and they keep costing a fortune to own down the track
On another note, do any of you guys know what the service charges are for the 1 series, more notably the 135i ??? Had someone tell me not too long ago that their X5 was costing around 2k per service once at or over 50,000km :eyebulge: Glad to see it only cost you less than a hundred bucks though  |

Servicing OMG...
I actually asked this before I bought and was told it would be about $475 for a minor service and $700 for a major. And if the timing belt or something like that is involved , mortgage the house and sell the first born. Okay slight exageration. Remember that oil alone is 7 litres of synthetic at about $130 a pop for the Grange hermatage

Mine comes with free servicing for 2 year. The free servicing does not include parts. This is part of the corporate program

I have a feeling mine has all the bells and whistles, because all I did was ask for an insurance to be included and didn't even ask for a qoute (was busy at the time). If you were the business manager, wouldn't you just tick every box for me???

Quote:
Unscheduled service 1 = $10 for loan car Scheduled service = $187.30 (mainly brake fluid change) Service interval indicated service (brake pads needed changing) = $10 for loan car Then after 29 mths of ownership, service interval indicated it needed another service.....this time definitely NOT free = $1023 Admittedly the service involved replacing THE ENTIRE exhaust system and vacuum pump with BMW covering the cost of the parts even through I was out of warranty. So still expect to pay something, especially if you do more km's, and expect to be hit hard once the "free" period ends.
