I have to point this out... I am sorry in advanced.
"A chassis which is faster than its engine", Oh thank you BMW Marketing corp. If the chassis is faster than the engine, put a faster engine inside... Yes yes yes, this is about fast handling not fast engines. The spark about having something that is //m should be that it out perform its siblings in the family line up. That said, when you pull up to a light with a 135i and a //m coupe you want to PULL away from the 135, like the M3 does with the 335i. You don't really want to struggle with a sibling car because this will ultimately make your car feel less special. Yes you can smoke them in a corner, or on the brakes (as I often do in my POS car on the highways) but you want to be able to dominate in all areas... Realistically though... 335hp or 345hp... or 350hp... There is really no difference between these figures. 335 and 380 (maybe you will feel a little difference). The closer this car reaches to 400hp though you will most likely be fighting with a lot of rear-traction issues making that yaw control reel you poorly skilled arse in all the time. ... all that said... I still want my moonroof. Nice interior. Great exterior. Cheap looking dials... let's see some Canadian prices. Maybe worth it to by a m3 and tell everyone to smoke these tail pipes. |

I wish they would've put suede/alcantara inserts in the seats. Not sure why they add all that suede except where it matters. Otherwise, car looks great. Is that leather or leatherette?

Kind of looks like a rally car no? Im sure it will look better in the flesh but those pictures are a little disappointing. Looking at it head on is a great angle but it looks sort of ugly from the side/rear.

Im gonna play devils advocate.
I have to say the numbers to say the least and very UNIMPRESSIVE! The 2011 Mustang GT fro all intensive purposes beat the M3. Id be surprised if half the M drivers on the road could push the car as much as it needs to preform and beat the competition. And now theres a slow M model that can be beat by what im sure most here would consider an inferior Ford? Not to mention the Ford Mustang, while not quite half the price of the M is still substaintial cheaper. If your really want a performance car and not jsut the bragging rights on owning a BWM M car the the Ford wins. |

Little more power would be good otherwise, it looks pretty good to me.

I'm in...
Now all I gotta do is have the STi shot and featured; then get it returned to stock and traded in, or sold. I've got 6+ months to make it happen Would it kill some people to be a little more appreciative and a little less negative? Thanks to South and the selected drivers who actually "drove" the car and offered solid input. I'm looking forward to some magazine reviews, that include driving. Does anyone know if this car will be eligible for the Individual program?

I love it!
Coming from a 335, I'm actually thinking about getting this. It's a great base car to start off with, whether you keep it the way it is, or you use it as a base to your modding madness. I'm happy it is the N54, as most 135 mods can be moved over to this platform (I'm sure we'll see the JB, Procede, etc.. move over as well), but I'm a little sad that nothing was done to the N54 to make things a little different from all the other n54's out there. This means we can still be plagued with the HPFP (I've never had one problem with my 335) issue that has been going on for years. I thought the 1M was suppose to have a different head and possibly upgraded intake manifold??? To the ones saying this isn't a true M, your correct. BMW named it 1M for a reason... It isn't the M1 which is a true M car. It is more of a M sport version, aimed at the younger generation. Another reason why the M3, M5, M6, are labeled the way they are. Either way it looks like a fun car to have and I hope to see one in person soon and maybe have one in the drive way next to the s1k.

Wow, I don't need to like black that much. That's sick!!
For you guys that have seen the orange in person, how realistic are the photos. When Sedona Red was being marketed, I loved the photos of the color. When I saw it in person, I thought it was nasty. For whatever reason it looked great in bright light but was awful when it wasn't under the sun. Bring on the white.....

I think the car looks great but the engine cover should read "POSERED by M"
For the price I'd rather get a used E92 M3 with a real motor.

N54 -- but overall it looks sharp, seems like power is = to 335is just a few more M goodies like throttle response, LSD, etc. Will def need to test drive it when it hits the states!

the front seems a bit busy and it'd be cool if the side gills were like the gills on the m3.. |

Very nice !
I'm sure it'll be better in the metal... My only exterior visual gripe is the fake side vents, they really add a bit of 'chavness' to it, otherwise it's thumbs up on the rest of the exterior IMO Interior is quite bland and pity there's no other colour choices, but it's still more than acceptable again IMO. Tuning will take care of any initial power deficits too... |
