Finally got my car coded. The V1 and i assume v2 depo's can be coded to turn the amber corners off, and change the DRL(day time running lights) to the angel eyes. Now my angel eyes are always on, even under auto without the amber corners being on. Depo's are a complete success in my book.

I want the same setup without amber corners on... I don't have a coding tool so I will probably take it somewhere that does coding.

I didn't code it myself, i don't know how exactly he got it to work but he did. He told me to turn on my DRL(which were the high beam halogens on low power) and then he changed them and the corners went off, the high beams turned off and the angel eyes turned on. Basically i my headlights are euro speced with normally operating angel eyes now. Happy i finally got it to the point where i wanted it. Anyone that knows coding will be able to do it to Depo's as they are wired correctly.

I got the Spyder headlights (a.k.a Sonar) but they're not the dual CCFL halo's like some of the other versions they sell. They're actually just LED Halo's so I'm kind of contemplating if I want to install them. I really want the CCFL dual halo version.
But does anyone know where I should tap the LED angel eyes to? They just need a 12V source. I have a Canadian spec car so I have H7 high beams as DRLs. Which wire in the Sonar headlight is the DRL line and if I code the DRL to always on, will that mean the high beams are always on too?? Thanks for your guys help! |

Im guessing the SONAR's will be the same setup as the DEPO's... you will just have to code the rings to run as DRLs. Wire tapping will just get messy.
Try to find some coders around your area, and I am sure they can look into it for you.

Unfortunately the SONAR's do not have the LED Halo's prewired unlike the DEPOs so I need to figure out which wire to splice these LEDs into. Some have said they spliced it into the little bulb that sits to the side of the H7 highbeams. But that bulb only comes on when I unlock my car.
If I splice it with my normal DRLs (H7 highbeams at reduced power) can I code it such that DRLs are always ON but H7 highbeams will not light up? |

Okay so I re-read another member's post on his Spyder headlights and it seems he connected his AE's to the city light on his headlights and coded the city light as his DRL to be always on. And then he removed the city light bulb.
I kind of like the city light though. Anyone else try to do it differently? |

Depo's are the easiest option in all reality if you want the angel eyes as DRL. They properly wire them so someone can code your car to have them as DRL. They also look most similar to OEM xenon's from BMW IMO. The downside is my right headlight lets water in when i get it wash/wash it. Takes a few days of driving and it works itself out, not that big a deal but still pretty annoying.

water gets in bc depo uses really shitty gaskets. i had depos on my e46 330i zhp and the driver side headlight constantly had water in it. i got fed up and ordered bmw headlight gaskets for it and it fixed the problem only momentarily. personally even after that i feel like depo just uses something somewhere that allows water to get inside of the headlight. i know that depo is considered a OEM replacement but damn that still can't fix that water issue.

Yah.. I always thought it was the turn bulb area. I am getting my DEPOs re sealed from Luis at OSS so we will see if that helps!
Can't wait to finally get them...

I'm not quite sure, i thought it was the turn signal area until i washed my car myself the other day. I was using a power washer(nozzle 3ish feet away) directly on the healight and i saw water condensing on the inside of the headlight. It's pretty damn annoying, especially because i have a clean car and then my headlight is all fogged up. Eventually i'll have somebody reseal them.

Yah that's what I think it may be. Luckily I'm having someone re-seal them while they are installing the LED rings so I shouldn't have that problem...
Can't wait to get my lights.. Got a free upgrade to the v4 rings and I just ordered the Morimoto HID kit so the lights should be great !

so I think the depo v2 are just LED upgrades and not a different headlight.
I can only find depo v2 from one seller on ebay. I found their main website (same address as ebay seller) http://www.uniquestyleracing.com/20bmw1see8le.html They offer bright white V2 LEDS for 70 bucks, so I am assuming they are just placing dual firing LEDS with brighter output into stock depos. That being said, the pics sure do look great

I believe a few people have them on the forum. They are just upgraded LED's rather than the standard 4k temp ones that came with the regular set.

does anybody know if these depo angel eyes are the same diameter as oem headlight angel eyes? I'm looking into getting v4 leds angel eyes to my depos. if nobody knows can somebody measure the oem angel eyes through the lense so I can compare it somewhat? ballpark would be a nice place to start.
