If that is the problem I don't see how the RR downpipes will fix it, I don't think the downpipes should effect the wastegates. Could probably fix it with some software, I know on my standalone on my WRX I could play with the wastegate duty cycle.

We have to remember that as an enthusiast community, we still represent a small minority of all N54 engine owners/prospective buyers.
I would guess that many, if not most, owners/buyers will not notice the change. Or if they do, they will not really care about it too much. N.B.: I have not driven a car with 29.2 or V81, so I'm really just guessing here. |

If anyone here is able to run pre and post 29.2 and post impressions, that would be awesome.

My 135 is Feb08 build and I was really impressed with the low end torque until the software update for the Alarm installation. I'm not a performance driver, but I can tell the difference in 1st and 2nd gear start. Lack of power below 3k rpm. I reported to my SA, and got replied that maybe the weather temp got warmer and taht's why it feels slower. Well, maybe that's the reason? |

I'm sitting here reading this link to the $26K engine blow up (on a modded leased car no less) when I realize.. this is my town.. my dealership.. and it just happened. Too close to home. I think I'll stick to suspension tweaks.

That's the first time I've really seen a solid explaination for this issue. Thanks. That would explain the lag that I've noticed. I have been wondering to myself how all these magazine writers who drive cars for a living could say things like "there is zero lag" when there is very obvious lag under certain circumstances. It's at it's worsts when you let off the gas in the upper RPM range (such as pulling along side another fast car at 50MPH in second gear), and then nail it. If there's a delay in the wastegate closing, that makes perfect sense. I don't like it, but at least now I understand it. :w00t: |

The issue raised by the OP has nothing to do with aftermarket mods. This is a software patch from BMW that people are complaining.

For me, I notice it in 1st and then to a lesser extent in 2nd. From 3rd on, the engine pulls from just below 2k.

I'm in the same situation. I love how my 335 pulls, and the 135 is being built now. I"m not at all happy about having lag built into my car. I can't wait for the magazine to start doing some comparison's with the A4/5 and start bitching about the lag they now feel.
