Oh, good to know. I just recalled that they intended to start it by Jan. 2013.

Hi Johny, I am still trying to get a feel for when we should hold the event/drive. Since you are local I would say take off Monday, because some of us might stick around on Monday for some more driving in the area. That is my plan. IF you have any more suggestions on where to drive or visit - I would love to hear them. Last year we had an Austrian man who ran the museum in Nauder's show us his little "fortress" (Festung). Maybe you guys would like to see that again? Or maybe we should drive a new Pass somewhere in the area? Dack

As one of the original founding fathers of the historic 1Addicts drive at Stelvio 1.0...I'm feeling a bit disrespected But understandably, the 4th would indeed be awesome and if it meets the needs and allows a bigger group, then that's a good date. Personally I have to work on the 4th but can do any weekend after that. As the Slovenia trip looks to be getting firmer around the end of June, perhaps Stelvio towards the end of July.

I am still thinking that July 14th/15th or July 20th/21st would be better. I am worried that the winter will be long up in the Alps. Plus in late June they are having some bicycle and motor cycle events... and I don't want to share that drive up Stelvio with those guys!! lol What ever weekend we do it... I will take off Friday/Sat/Sun/Monday. That way we can explore some off beat places.

Just making conversation with the "July 4" comment. It wouldn't be Stelv1o without you, Rick.
Furlough or not, I'm still voting for 19-22 July to give some space between the Slovenia trip and Stelvio. No need to tour the same fortress again. I wouldn't mind taking the chairlift behind the hotel, do some light hiking.

If its just a weekend-trip, maybe I could join someone as a passenger and hang on to my DSLR and take some nice pictures. I might be able to somehow squeeze that into my financial budget with the 7-day-monaco-roadtrip only 2 weeks later

Ok, so can we all agree to the 19-22 July weekend. ?
That's a good idea. There is that chair lift behind our Hotel that goes up to the top of the mountain. We could do that in the evening after the drive.

Schloss Naudersberg, in Nauders...
Would you guys be interested in touring the Schloss(Castle) Naudersberg. We had dinner there last year. I just sent them an email asking about their museum and tour. Does anyone remember the name is this village? It was on the way from Davos back to Nauders... I was thinking it might be worth a side trip? Pics of Stelvio from my visit last weekend... Icicles... End of the Pass... just up the street from Francesca's Post Hotel in Trafoi...

Well it looks like the furlough is happening. In that case I can make what ever date the group selects.
This weekend I'm modifying my GoPro case to fit an external mic. Going to do some practice shots to make sure I'm ready for Stelvio 2.0.

Hey guys,
I am thinking that July 20th and 21st is the weekend we should plan on holding our Stelvio v2.0 road trip. Any thoughts? I have been talking to the Schloss Naudersberg people. That is the Castle above with the bicycle zipping by(we also ate dinner their last year)... anyways... they can give us a tour of their Castle IF we are interested. The tour is only in German... but I think between Andreas (Evolution80) and I, we can translate what the guide shows/explains to us. The tour lasts 90 minutes and costs 4 euros per person. Maybe we could do this Saturday afternoon? IF there is interest in seeing the castle ? I think Herr Toma (the guy from the Nauder's Fortress we toured last year might also show up!). They also told me of another Castle near by in Switzerland(CH)... it is called: Castle of Tarasp. It might be worth a stop IF we tour Fluela Pass (CH) again (which I would like to do!) We could stop there as a side trip. They also recommended this Castle Churburg... it looks AWESOME. http://www.churburg.com/it/ We don't have to go inside of these places. I just thought I'd throw this out there and see what everyone wants to do. I also like how Bob (smellthebeans) last year brought some chease, bread and meats and we had a little pinic on the side of the Alpine roads. I'd like to do something like that too one of the days.
