Boy has my perspective changed...
I think that the biggest problem for me with this car is going to be the boring, business-like interior. The US better be getting the M-bits otherwise the interior has no personality.

Not gonna happen, at least not standard. I will be highly surprised if it is even offered.

You're probably right which is disappointing. A car of this caliper deserves to have at least a little bit of uniqueness.

If you read closely you'll see that he said 6' 4"... c'mon man, we're talking NBA here!

Great thanks to Royalwe for the pictures! Royalwe, did you get the chance to hear the engine?

Oh geez phattbam - you're stuck with that voice; you forgot the [/paris hilton voice] (oh no, that means I can never use it now - oh well ; -)
BTW, thanks theroyalwe for climbing around the 135 and especially the sacrifice of crawling into the back seat and also for showing us the battery compartment (I suspect besides a first aid kit an air compressor and a can of slime will fit for those of us that plan to ditch the run flats). |

Are you really interested in a car that will be much more expensive and barely faster than the 135i? Plus, there are no indicators that an M1 is even coming.

theroyalwe: Thanks for taking the pictures and for the great post over at motoringunderground.com. I just wanted to make sure you knew that when I started this thread, I simply posted a link to your mu.com thread. Someone (the admin, I assume) added your full article to my original post.
Just wanted to make sure you knew I wasn't trying to steal your well deserved credit. Glad you made it over to 1addicts. I think you've got everyone ready to elect you president!

theroyalwe, saw you over at NAM, good to see you here. Thank you so much for the detailed photos. Just drives it home even more.
Yeah, the interior isn't anything mind blowing, it's also not down in subaru territory either. Straight forward, all business. No white/lemon for me please. I would SO prefer a cloth/leather option, but I doubt we will see it. I don't know if I will pony up for leather. I just checked out a R56, and was shocked to learn we were sitting on factory leatherette - would have sworn it was leather. We'll see.... The exterior gets better with every new photo. I have been drooling over E46 M3 pics, one of the best looking BMWs, IMHO. The more I see of the 1er coupe, the more it works for me. The E46 still has it beat in headlights, but this black car doesn't look as SURPRISED! as many other shots make it look (even from directly in front). I love the stubby little trunk and it's mini spoiler - again, very E46 M3. To me, the new E90 coupes are a bit to long-looking for me. Dare I say, a little to low in the green house. The 1er seems to have a more chunky look that I really like. Trunk looks good. Good cars have the battery in the trunk. This will be my third in a row! Miata - MINI - 135i. I would also have liked to see a spare, but what are you going to do? I (JUST took the RFTs off my MCS with 18K on the clock - Went with Pirelli P-Zero Nero M&S. MUCH smoother, lost a little turn in.) However, the R53 was never designed for RFTs from the get-go, hopefully the 135i suspension will work well with them. and those brakes - my god the brakes. Please let there be an option for "Boy Racer Red" on those - please!!! thanks again!!!! -jac |

it's my pleasure folks... I had a feeling that I took some pictures that had yet to be seen. I'll try to keep on top of this thread, but a lot of the questions you guys have were already answered in the discussion thread on the MU forum. I've also got a handful of other pics (as well as high res versions of these) and a complete writeup of the whole BMW experience coming soon so keep your eyes peeled.
