From Edmunds.com:
BMW announced pricing for the 2008 1 Series Coupe this afternoon at the 2007 LA Auto Show. When the coupe hits dealerships in the spring of '08, expect the 128i to start at $29,375 and 135i at $35,675. Tom Purves, Chariman and CEO of BMW also announced that a 1 Series convertible will be shown at the Detroit Auto Show. http://blogs.edmunds.com/Straightlin....photopanel..3.* Scroll down a bit |

They next huge pricing-related question will be what the residual value of this will be. Tough to venture a guess since this is an entirely new series line-up in this country for BMW.
I would have preffered below 35, even if it were 34,999. Either way, I'm still leaning towards a 135i next may. |

So the cars are priced almost exactly as most of us have been saying they would be.
$35,600 is a steal for the 135i. Hell, with the dollar tanking against the Euro, this pricing is a gift. |

I think prices are fair, especially comparing to other countries and factoring the change in monetary strength. I certainly wouldn't expect it to be any less and wouldn't want it to. I wouldn't like to see these cars as popular as a 3er

The 335i Coupe base is US $40,800 - that puts the 135i at ~ 87% of the 335i - about what many expected. Now, option pricing will be entertaining - the Sport Package for the 135i has less content than that of the 335i Coupe. DOn't knwo item for item how the Premium Package stacks up. Suspect Nav, Autotran, and most of the standalone options to track with the 3 series pricing.

Once you add delivery you're over 36K and closer to 37K than 35K. Add taxes and you'll be well north of 37K. If you want options with your 135i then it won't be long before you're over 40K. I still think that it's a relative bargain, but not anywhere near the kind of deal that some were fantasizing about.

Absolutely. No surprises at all with this pricing. It's very much in line with most sensible estimates, and is quite reasonable when you look at BMW pricing around the world. In fact, if you want a 1er coupe, I'd strongly advise getting one in 2008. If the dollar continues to decline, and it's a fairly good bet that it will, the prices are likely to rise over the next few years. I wouldn't be surprised to see the 128i well above $30K by the '10 model year, with the 135i hitting $38K or so.

those prices would put the 128 couple $6k less than the 328 coupe, and the 135 $5k less than the 335. not unreasonable. also of note, the 135 coupe is a couple hundred more than the 328 coupe, but relatively the same. you have the option for the bigger car or the smaller car with all the fancy bits for about the same price.
