Btw... speaking of hoods... last week I was talking to a guy who works for BMW AG, he has good friends with M GmbH... he said the reason why the 1M was not offered with an "M driver's package" (ie: a higher speed limiter) is bc BMW was worried about the hoods opening above 280 kph! He said, that M said it wasn't safe above those speeds. Normally the driver's package will get you at least 280 kph V-Max, on say an M3.
Now... I know I have driven quite a "few times" with my tuned 135i to 283 kph verified with my GPS!

To each his own. I kinda like the AE hood, though I wouldn't put it on my 1M. My 1M has plenty of "lumps" as it is.
Short of the suspension and exhaust, I'd prefer to keep the exterior design as stock as possible. The 1M is becoming iconic. .

Dackel's Post report re: the M Driver's Package and hood issues is interesting and not surprising once you have a look at those videos where the front lateral edges of the 1-series hood start to rise above 120 mph (the video reminds me of Jeremy Clarkson's jowls when he tested an open-air little race car for the street, I think it was the Ariel Atom). Odd that the M folks didn't just give the 1M two hood latches -- I mean, it can't have been that hard as my Mini Cooper (non-S, even) and e90 335i both have them.

There are none left in the USA. Part # will do you no good. I can't speak for Europe though. Turned out to be much more of a process then I expected though. |

The Active E hood does not work on the 1er M Coupe, it was not designed for performance design enhancement. It would actually look ridiculous on the 1er M Coupe.

Yup, I really liked it! Your 1M is still one of the nicest ones I have seen.
