Installed the ER charge pipe today and took all the stock diverter piping out and noticed there was a decent amount of oil in the piping. Is this typical or is this something I need to worry about?

yes, it's normal. oil blow-by. you can get an oil catch can to reduce the amount of oil blow-by. the bms one is the only one i'd run. i haven't bought one yet, but i plan to

I two like the BMS occ,but I really like the hoses and connectors on the HPF can. Hower I do have some concern about it being mounted in the turbo area as some claim heat will effect the performance of the can. As HPF is known to produce quality products are there any basis for for being concerned about the mounting location ?

I was thinking getting an oil catch can will decrease this a little; so I plan on doing that as a next mod. I just wanted a little reassurance. Thanks for the reply.

I installed the Berk catless downpipe on my car the other day and I dont think I got the clamp on the top part of the downpipe on the right way. First thing I noticed when I drove the car after install was loss of power, not complete loss of power but definitely some power loss. Do you think I can be losing power from an exhaust leak? Or maybe when I was installing the sensors from inside the engine bay, I could be getting a boost leak?

I did get a SEL light on my way to the mechanic but when he checked it he said there was no code. I do have a tune, I have the jb4 for the n55 engine, I turned it off on my way there so I was running stock boost the whole way when the light came on. The light probably came on because I have a catless downpipe in.

Bryce, quick dumb question. I know best practice is to warm the car up (i.e. drive it until the oil temp needle starts to move up a few ticks) before you do any spirited driving and get your rpms above 3k. But if, after the car has been sufficiently warmed up, you turn the car off and then come back to it after 5-10 minutes and the oil temp gauge still shows a warmed up oil temp can you continue to drive the car spiritedly?

i agree, but i think either dp's or fmic should be the first mod. both mods are multi-beneficial:
-dp's put less stress on the turbo's, reduce heat (which can cause turbo's to wear faster) -fmic reduces IAT's, which can reduce knock and timing pulls, keeping the engine operating safely and keeps temps down both mods add decent amounts of power and let the user run a more aggressive map (on cobb, procede, or jb4 at least) |
