Everyone I've talked to said XHP is worlds better than the Alpina flash. That's what I was leaning towards until I found out about XHP

Is there a BMW "recycler" that is typically used by people? Preferably east coast. I'm asking because there are some stock parts I'd like to pick up to customize that wouldn't make sense in buying brand new. Larger body panels and such.

For my VW there were a couple well known recyclers that were always a great source of parts

For $100 it’s trully how the transmission should have been programmed.

Lots of small things done today, but as we know, it is almost always the small things that eat a lot of time.

While the car was cooling down, i replaced the OE rear exhaust tips.

I then moved to the front brakes, i knew the driver's side caliper spring was rubbish, because i screwed it up (very aggressive) removal and the shims broke loose. I had some light squealing from what i felt like the driver side front pads, so i decided to remove the pads, clean them, lightly sand them to remove any glazing (there were none) and installed them with fresh springs (that fitted better btw).

I then drained the cooling system from the radiator, once that was done, i removed the thermostat hoses and drained more coolant. Fresh coolant in, followed the procedure for removing air (entlüftung), as a precaution i did it 3 times to be sure.

Then removed old belt tensioner (it is 5,000kms old) and belt (again 5,000kms old) and installed new ones (with new bolt) and correctly torqued, so far is stopped squealing, will check again tomorrow morning.

I then noticed how the KW Performance Dealer installed the coil overs, removed the factory strut bolts and never replaced them, so much for him being a pro. According to the manual, those bolts are torque to yield and should never be reused, so i installed brand new ones and properly torqued.

Finally, i readjusted the KW V3 bump and rebound. The KW specialist did the following:

Front Bump/Compression: 5
Front Rebound: 8

Rear Bump/Compression: 4
Rear Rebound: 5

I set it back to KW default of Front and rear rebound 9, front bump/compression 5 while rear compression 6.

The car is so much more...subtle now, especially the front (obviously the rear as well). But one click rebound from 8 to a softer 9 made a very noticeable difference. The car just "rides" over imperfections, still offering very good grip, this default from KW is perfect IMO for daily driving. Definitely will increase rebound for tracks, but dailyroads this is just great.

Also installed a missing vibration absorber/damper on the muffler, went with 21 NB torque.

Everytime i work on the car and drive it, it just becomes so much smoother. The throttle, brakes, response just makes me think to myself "do you really need anything else?" Yes, spending more time and money on M3 RSFBs, locking diff, lighter wheels, lighter seats and sway bars are expensive, but it will probably be a sweet ride of daily and fun track car (and european GT lol).

Sorry for the long post, i am just tired and spent 6 hours doing all this and really happy with the end result, especially the suspension "tweak".

Brand new BMW rear emblem/badge as well, old one was a bit...well old.

ALPINA B3 Flash* (335s / 135s with N54 / N55 engines (03/2007- 2013 6AT only) and M3 DCT Flash)

• Improve paddle response for smoother and quicker shifts between gears
• Rev matching on down shifts

• Optimize transmission software

So its applicable just to some E82's then..

N54 all of them apparently and just NON DCT N55s?

Am curious to see how much difference you find with the damper installed on the muffler?

335i's had come with N55 and non DCT 6AT. So when they list 335i/135i those are the non DCT 6AT's they're talking about. Unless there were 135i N55 6AT's somewhere?

Exactly, I don't think any 135i N55 was 6AT, I understood they were all DCT.

So your reasoning makes sense, might be because they are listing 335 also.

So many are upgrading i'm leaving mine factory, something about OE "angel eyes" BMW classic yellow appeals to me, though i admit the "upgraded" ones are indeed sharp.

I forgot to mention this, it is a lot quieter from idle to 4k (did not rev it out yet).

From outside, it kind of lost that deep growl it has, feels more mature. From inside some drone is completely gone.

I like it actually, it makes it more comfortable as a daily in the city and on the highway, i will rev it out tonite do not worry

I used to have the white LED angel eyes for about a year and went back to the stock halogen angel eyes lol.

Idk, gives me a E39 vibe that I like

The last gen E series i believe were the first models to come with the "angel eyes", maybe mistaken.

They probably wouldn't look as bad if they weren't butted up next to the HUGE orange reflectors. I can't wait to get rid of those. The plan is to send these lights off to get some nice new Bavgruppe halos but I wanted to get rid of the yellow for now

Yes this. That’s how the actual alpina b3 is setup. N55 twin turbo?!? And the 6spd ZF transmission.

When I first bought my car first thing I did was install lux eyes. Got the adaptive headlight code so I took them out and along with reading all the horrors of getting water in the housing I sold them. I upped the brightness of the halogens and somehow I fell in love with them.
