Congrats to those who have recently placed their orders for LMB. You won't be disappointed.
I had a glimpse and taste of it for one week in Germany. Put 1340 miles on it and enjoyed every second of it. Only have a couple of crappy photo's I took at Da Welt I'll post up later. Just found out I'm on the Don Pasquale with estimated departure from B-haven on 20 June and arrival in NJ on 2 July. Hope to have redelivery at the PCD between the week of 27 - 31 July. I'll be on holiday in Asheville, NC during that week, so it's a relatively short drive from there to Greeneville to experience the performance center.

As promised
Crummy pics as promised.
Other general comments: Highs: Engine - gobs of power and torque at all levels in the band; can run around in 3rd gear all the live-long-day; no detectable lag as I'd originally feared Shifter - can't believe this is a BMW; 'snick', and you're in the gear you sought; no more wandering, hoping and praying you found the right gateway; a true revelation and milestone for BMW in my opinion M Sport Package - Type 261 wheels are gorgeous and easy to clean (well, not as easy as the 264's, but certainly than the 135's that adorn the ZHP); anthracite headliner is a lovely thing to behold Brakes - whoa you up as well as the R32's Size - ZHP that I just came from is a leviathan compared to this einser reihe, even though weight is virtually identical; reminds me so much of the E30 318is, but with power that only that model could dream about Exhaust - not quite as throaty as the R32's, but has a nice tone all its own Le Mans blue paint - totally enamored about the depth and richness of this color (always have been); shines like a bright sapphire stone in the sun, and in the dark takes on more subdued tone Lemon leather - great contrast to the LMB paint; two tone feature ROCKS; already proven to be a PITA to keep clean though; must always keep leather wipes within arms reach Lows: RFT's - hate 'em, hate 'em, hate 'em; too stiff such that you they mute roadfeel; real performance rubber will be first mod Suspension - oft noted understeer is all too obvious; ZHP is more neutral; +1 fitment and real tires should dial some of it out; down the road Performance Suspension should help too; Quaife type LSD way down the road mod Leather - Boston leather will be a pain to maintain; at first blush does not appear to be as durable as the leather on the ZHP Guzzler - fun spinning the needles, but as they go up you can see the fuel gauge go down concomitantly; if that's the cost of fun I'll live with it regardless of the price of gas Door chime - Just one rung on the level above the RFT's in the irritation category. Almost causes blood to shoot out of my eye's once it gets rolling. Those are the immediate comments anyway. Once I get it back and have a chance to live with it on a daily basis I'm sure I'll have more to sing about or rag on it. As for now, can't wait to get it back in my hands again. How fun is this car? I only snapped a few crummy pics of it, and none after I left 'Da Welt'. The rest of the time was spent with a SAG putting on 1340 miles.

Okay, looks like my man Dave Theado has hooked me up with a PCD date of 28 July. Way to go Dave-o!
I'm pretty jacked up about seeing it again. It's been 5 weeks since we last parted glances. In the category of stupid things that go through your mind in that time: I can't even remember what she all looks like, especially the Lemon interior; will she still blow my hair back (well, what's left of it anyway) when I look at her, and will she still turn me on when I turn her on; I wonder how many miles have been put on it since I dropped it off with 1339 on the odo; How am I going to manage to not drive it at 130mph like I did the last time we were together (although I imagine seeing my first smokey will instantly help me); As excited as I am about taking in the whole PCD experience, I really can't wait to take her on the backroads to Asheville, NC. Glad I can skip the standard 'new car intro' since I got that at Da Welt. Can't wait until she carries me across the threshhold into her new home. I'm sure everyone will understand................... after that everything else is private!

am i going to be the ONLY ONE who ordered LMB with Coral Leather?
I haven't seen any picture of LMB with coral leather but I bite the bullet and went with it. I just HAD to have the coral leather. (lemon is nice too but it'd be nightmare to keep clean) And just about every 1 series in my area is either white or black (with coral leather). |
