Unfortunately for your argument Ford had fewer defects per 100 vehicles than BMW. 159 to 166. 170 is industry average. Thanks for playing though.

BMW like VW is not known for quality. That's why this Jeremy guy is so rediculous whining about his car. Go get a Camry is right. I love my 135i for what it is - a kick arse coupe with the best engine on the planet for the price that's as fun to drive as any car.

I had an 05 Mustang GT before my 135i. Both are great cars, they do different things well. This forum seriously needs to drop the snobbery though, if you can go drive a RWD V8 muscle car and not have a good time you need your pulse checked. I applaud Ford for vastly improving their product line and coming out with an awesome new Stang. I'll definitely be in the market for one in a couple years to compliment my Bimmer

I have both an 2008 135' and an 2008 mustang GT... they are obviously very different but I love them both. Some people in here are forgetting the price difference between the 2011 Mustang and the 1 series... for the price of a M1 or even a 135i with some equipment on it, you could make a pretty amazing V8 monster from a 2011 5.0... I don't think a Ford Mustang will ever be as nice to drive as a BMW but at the same time, a mustang GT will always be a cooler car than a 135i...which is the BMW we should be comparing it to.

Brake lights falling out? Seriously?! Fuel pumps failing over and over and over and over again? Never mind fuel injectors and coils failing, and wastegate and turbo problems! Best engine on the planet? Not even when it's running right! Last edited by jeremyc74; 01-25-2010 at 08:47 AM.. |

The only reason that I didnt buy a stang vert was the fact that I got my 135i vert for only 3K more. But I was cross shopping the two. I think its a fairly obvious comparison.
Think about this way...both the Mustang and the 135i are 2+2 performance oriented RWD sports cars with about 300 BHP and both can be had with some nice options for high 30s - low 40s. Why wouldnt potential buyers compare the two? I had plans man, I was set on the stang for quite some time. Gunmetal Metallic California Special with black side stripes. I was going to buy a Roush super charger and then make the thing a full blown stage 3. Ohh well, its not like I cant do the same thing with Dinan on the 135i |

Probably because the BM's are far more complex than a basic Ford.

This was a good topic for discussion ...not one to win.
As simply said before...two great cars and each does their own thing well. But since we're trash talking - The real bottom line is, which vehicle will attract more chicks and I think the Mustang will dominate pretty much on every continent easily over the 1 series. |

Just a heads up, the Roush blower is garbage on those cars and waaaaaaaaay overpriced in terms of what you get. Whipple/Kenne Bell was the way to go in order to make big power, the Roush was maxed out around 400whp while you could easily get over 600whp on the twin screw units. Just food for thought in case you ever get a Stang (I had a Whipple on mine...pic attached)

How exactly? Interior electronics? Not if the Ford has the Sync system, which gets rave reviews from everyone who uses it. Safety systems? They're about the same. ABS, traction control, stability control, and a bunch of airbags. Drivetrain? Same transmission options. The BMW has IRS over the Mustang, which adds a little complexity, but it's not something that would cause build quality issues or create customer complaints. Engine management? They're about equal. Ford has a DI twin turbo V6 on the market right now. So honestly, I don't see where it's additional complexity that's causing BMW to have worse survey numbers than Ford in recent years. It's most likely quality control and engineering validation problems at BMW that's caused their numbers to drop. |

Don't get me wrong, I love BMWs, currently have an E36M3 that I can't find a suitable upgrade for - hopefully the M1 delivers. I just can't stand the American car company bashers that have baseless arguments given how far the companies (well, Ford at least) have come. People using the Ford, found-on-road-dead joke must still think the Berlin Wall seperates E and W Germany. |
