I recently moved and uninstalled my Stage 1 flash just to be safe. I found the box with my AcessPORT in it a couple days ago and was wondering if COBB has fixed that annoying issue with the cruise control yet on their flashes? Any info would be much appreciated.

It's fixed. There are a bunch of new stage 1 maps out as well.

While checking Cobbs website I noticed that aftermarcket DPs were required to run stage 2. Does anyone know if stage 2 flash incorparates a DP fix or does that need to be adressed seperatley. Thanks

Yes, it does incorporate the DP fix. I have been running stage 2 + FMIC since release and no CEL yet.

I will be the first to say I was getting a tad impatient waiting for stage 2.

...but, I think it is more of a liability thing to be honest. I know they do not want to release a tune without being completely sure it won't grenade your engine.

Juicehead, thanks for your reply. However it got me to thinking. If for some reason you needed to do an uninstall for a dealer visit or drop back to a stage 1 map for some reason, you would need something like the BMS DP fix. I wonder if the flash fix plus the BMS fix would cause problems. I have not got to talk with anyone with stage 2 experience yet, so I am not sure how to adress this issue. If you had to install and uninstall the BMS fix each time you needed to change to lower Cobb map it would defeat the ease and flexability of the cobb AP. You have any thoughts on this? Thanks

I'm using the BMS DP fix regardless, I uninstall the tune all the way for dealer visits, I don't have to worry about that light showing up.

I spoke with Cobb about the 'dpfix' functionality of the accessport, their response was that it only prevents the codes from appearing, similar to the auto-clear on the JB4, as it is right now the Cobb stage 2 map will not let you pass any type of OBDII emissions check like the physical dpfix will.

If the Cobb is just an auto clear, you could run the BMS fix like Black Sheep and lamboworld and either drop to a stage 1 map or do an uninstall. Then the BMS fix would take over.I too have to deal with the OBD11 emision ckeck each year. Do you see any problem with this ?

I have been passing NYS OBD-II scan inspections for years with Cobb tunes on catless exhausts (subaru/evo platforms). The n54 tune should be no different, it effectively turns the code(s) off. The readiness functions are independent. With ATR you can turn any code off you wish to.

Please do chime in if the n54 is different with respect to trouble codes than say the subaru platform. If it truly only auto-clears the code rather than disallow it from ever appearing, then

In NC the OBD II emisions inspection checks for emisions code, but it also ckecks the primary and secondary 02 sensors reading to make sure the cat is working. Would you not need something like the BMS fix so the ECU would send a within limits signal to the emissions computer for the 02 sensors ?

when you say physical dpfix, do you mean BMS DP fix? Does it help to pass emissions check?

I don't mean to butt in on your question to sluflyer06 ,but most auto clear features just keep the check light from coming on dash. A physical fix like BMS alters the reading of the secondary 02 sensor to the ECU. That way the ECU thinks the cat system is working properly. Please correct me if I missed something.

On the drive by wire subarus, there is literally a master control bit that turns each CEL (along with its failsafe mode) on or off. It's like it was programmed that way to make it super easier to disable codes. Flip one bit and you're done. And all the bits for all the codes are in one spot in order with a descriptor section next to it listing the actual code values.

I don't think this is typical design. The DBW Subarus are a lucky bunch in that regard because what is actually being changed in the ECU flash is very straight forward. The older cable throttle cars have to have their thresholds for triggering a CEL changed as there is no simple on/off switch in the ECU's coding.

Given what sluflyer06 posted and the differences I've seen disassembling various ECUs, I'd say yes, the N54 is not the same as a completely different car in how it handles CEL codes.

If you're really bored you can read this:
