Normally, part numbers do not superseded BACKWARDS! They get replaced NURMICALLY! The newer the part the higher the part number! I suspect it is more like: #881-->#933--->#943. Every post I have read/seen says the 943 pump is the latest and greatest HPFP available from BMW. |

I'm in the industry, ad we see part numbers go backwards all the time. Sometimes it happens when there are two variation of a part, and they choose the later one, then something happens and it doesn't work out, so they go with the other design. I've also seen it happen when they're building the same part in two different locations for two different applications (example building the 135i pumps in Germany and the 535i pumps in Switzerland) and then combine the production for both. It's hard to tell exactly what's going on in BMW's part numbering system just by the sequence. |

Thanks guys. Both posts makes this HPFP deal get more and more interesting!
TrackRat... so you say all the new pumos are not in fact new but REBUILDS? Does BMW use some sort of letter in the part number to denote a rebuilt part? Like in VW part numbers... they use an "X" in the last digit - to denote a rebuilt part. |
