Based off the new 135i pricing the 1M appears to be a solid deal, obviously less so based off the original 135i pricing. I want a test drive and I want it now. And to see it in black would help

I might be biased...
But to me the pricing seems right on too... "The base price of the all-new BMW 1 Series M Coupe, powered by 335 horsepower with 332 lb-ft of
torque, is $46,135. The 1 Series M Coupe is largely equipped with components from the M3 Competition Package, including wheels, tires, brakes, aluminum-intensive suspension, and M variable differential lock." Those upgrades alone are worth while, not to mention a nice level of standard equipment built into the price as well. That said, would I love to be able to get a non-power seat, virtually no options car & save a few grand? Yes. But the price is appropriate for what we actually get |

- A new 1M via Euro Delivery will be around $40-42k base. - I actually prefer the smaller form factor (I would compromise the rear seat a little for less weight) - Gives me the opportunity of driving a factory-painted orange car (GT3 RS & Lambo closet admirer, I guess) And stock for stock, IMO the 1M will be faster than the M3 on some tracks - just wait for the shock numbers. A big unknown at this point is how well the new engine will fare on track in hot & humid conditions here in the US. My M3's drivetrain has been bulletproof on track. $46k base price seems fair to me, given the extent of the changes over the 135i.

The initial M3 strategy quickly backfired, as the take rate for ED was dismal (of course, the soft M3 sales in general didn't help either). That's why they changed it...

Of course, while they changed their tune for the E9x M3 as you point out, I don't think they did the same for the M5/6, and I don't think the X5/X6 M get the discount either. But I could be wrong about all of that. In any case, yeah, I have to believe the 1M will get the discount but given the limited production you never know. |

I'm perplexed by the people who are "shocked" at the pricing of this car considering a 135 just isn't that much less. Also - BMW will sell each and every one of these they make so, it's a pretty reasonable price considering

That's gotta be some good shit you are smoking. The main problem of the 1M (despite it being "limited") is that a mustang is a better value for money. I love BMWs but the 1 M was born out of greed not for any "back to basics" purposes. |

Two words: Quantitative Easing
You can all partly thank Mr. Bernanke Commodities have been shooting through the roof. I hope BMW is hedging their costs for the year. More price increases to come |

The United States market is highly price sensitive. Our friends in Europe pay significantly more even holding for tax disadvantages not to mention Canadians who pay considerably more than us even though Canadian Loony has parity with the American dollar. BMW pricing on the 1M is 10K higher that 135 which is more than I expected, but I'm sure they will sell them all.

40k for a new 135i is way more shocking. Fucking NUTS.

Yeah, but we have to wait for the complete price list to see how bad it actually is.

Wow, classic BMW. Facelift models while adding insignificant equipment and jacking up the price. They needed to raise the price of the price of the 1 series for the new sub 1 series FWD. So therefore when they start at $29k it will be "cheap" in comparison.
The same goes for the new X3 along with the introduction of the X1. Not too long ago you could buy an X3 or 3 series coupe for right around $30k. |

$10K more when you add OEM 19" wheels and leather. The DCT option on the 335is is pretty appealing, but by the time you start adding some packages, you're up to a $65K car. Heck, at that point, it's M3 all the way! |

My fully loaded '09 135i had an MSRP just over $50K. About $14K over base price. A fully loaded 1M will be close to $60K
