Pulled the housing off and got that dried up little carcass out of there. Decided it would be a good time to replace a bunch of bulbs, as well. The turn signal bulb's amber coating was all dried, cracked, and peeling so it's been in there a while.
Glad you were able to get that freeloader out of there.

Mostly spent this weekend helping my son with his E46 (coolant leak in the inlet pipe - which means disassembling pretty much everything on the intake side of the head). However, I did spend 20 minutes swapping out the HomeLink unit in my mirror with one from a 2012 F10 and now I don't need the little clip-on fob for my LiftMaster garage door opener.

$175 bucks later and I have a clean N55 backbox (axleback?) muffler.
Seems like the original owner upgraded the exhaust shortly after acquiring the 135i new.

It was about 70*F yesterday evening, I was sitting in the drive through for about 5 minutes with my a/c on auto 71*F medium fan. After I pulled out of the drive through the overheating warning came on.

I'm going to monitor the situation and see if any shadow codes are stored. I'm hoping it's not water pump/tstat related since I just replaced those two years ago. At least parts would be free since it's FCP...
Sounds identical to when my water pump went out a few years back. Best of luck!

Chill out pal, it could have been worse. Besides the deer is probably thinking the way about you. Nothing personal but I am an animal lover person. 🫶🏻

Bummer! I like animals too but deer are indeed dumb. Drive in the wrong place at the wrong time and they can jump out of the woods in front of you in a split second. It's like a death wish.

That’s exactly what happened. And yes, it could have been way worse. I’ve got dogs. I love animals. More intelligent creatures know to go in the other direction of a loud, 2 plus ton machine heading toward it.

Picked up two sets of style 157 wheels. They are fairly lightweight forged bmw wheels from the e90. 17x8 et34 20.2lbs. Gonna try and make them work for a winter and summer set. One of the sets already had some winter tires (215/55r17) so I tested the fitment. I think they might be a little tall. I was hoping to run 225/45r17 for winters and 245/40r17 for summers. Anyways... I kinda dig the look!

edit; oh! and looks like there's plenty of room for the upcoming brembo brakes

Sorry to see it. Was a nice spec bumper too.

The deer probably reproduced last season judging by it's size so it fulfilled its use to it's species. Big overpopulation problem in most areas only bummer is it wasn't food grade after getting whacked by a 2t car.

A lot of hunters in the area. It was gone within a few hours…. Hahaha

It was def on the larger size, so glad to hear it fulfilled its use. It did die on impact, so it did not suffer.

You should definitely see some codes... I remember having a few when mine died, on both cars actually (X3 with the N55).
Not sure if this has been answered yet, but I can confirm Bimmerlink will read out electric water pump speed

Insurance is handling it, but appreciate the insight! At least I’ve got my manual e61 to drive around in until it’s fixed.

Been working slowly over several days but finally got these out this morning. No major issues getting them out (except for a bloody nose). I soaked every nut and bolt heavily in WD40 and let it sit over night. Soaked everything again at the start of the job just in case.

I was able to access all the nuts from the top side with a straight 1/4 inch driver, 11mm deep socket and the two extensions you see in the pic. I used the deep impact socket as a 'breaker bar' for more leverage. Still need to get three gaskets out of the block but hopefully will get everything back together this weekend and tuned up.
