Front sizing
Not strictly a 1M question since my car is a bigtime mashup. However, having done heavy tinkering I have good traction in the rear with 275/35/18 PS4S.
Question is, what should I put up front with 1M fitment Apex EC-7 18x9.5et22? 255/35/18? 265? Square? Read a lot here about the OE 19" 359s but not sure how to translate that. Looking to maintain good balance without risking a twitchy rear end and snap oversteer. Appreciate the assistance!

The 1M is snappy and nonlinear — a staggered setup for the street is most likely to mitigate this.
Some people will go square for the track (275/35/18 very popular) to make the car understeer less and “more balanced” - you also gain the ability to rotate the tires to evenly distribute wear. So I guess it depends on what you are after. If you have a set of square 18x9.5 wheels and are happy with the rear traction, I would personally try out a 255 up front to maintain the factory stagger, as long as cosmetics are not an issue. |

My completely unscientific opinion would be a 255/35 because that maintains something close to the factory stagger.
My previous comment about cosmetics was just wondering whether or not a 255 would look stretched on a 9.5 wheel but when I punched the numbers into an online calculator it seemed reasonable. One the 1M the F/R wheel sizes are different to accommodate the stagger, so I wasn't sure staggered tires would look on a square wheel setup. |
