I have choices. 328i BMW PE or 135i Berks axleback (muffler delete)
So as the title says, I have options.
I have a 135i Berks Race exhaust (fancy way of saying muffler delete) sitting in my garage. I also have a 328i BMW Performance Exhaust. Neither of these exhausts are for my 128i e82, but I know both can be adapted. I know the Berks will be louder, but I don't know by how much. I don't plan on doing headers (n51, wouldn't work well anyway) and I am keeping my cats and my resonator as CT has pretty strict emissions/ inspection standards. I've read that the 328i BMWPE is not the same as the highly coveted 128i BMWPE, but the e90 guys love it. What should I do here? I want ease of installation to be priority. I know that the Berks is loud without a resonator, but I plan on keeping it. I know that the 328i BMWPE sounds great on a stock e9x. So, what would you do? thanks for your time. |

I've ran my 128 (n52) with nothing but a muffler delete for years and never thought it was too loud or sounded bad, but I also used a single wide oval resonated tip. The wife liked how my car sounded so we deleted her (e93 n51) muffler too, however she picked a oem looking dual rolled tips. They do not sound the same. Mine was lower and more subtle, hers is more raspy. Might be the tips, maybe the motor. Personally, I'm not a fan of the PE sound.

I’d put the Berk Race on and sell the 328i PE. You’ll be able to sell it within a day at a very good price.

I have a 135i PE that can be easily installed onto 128i.
I will trade for your 328i PE (which won't fit 1er without extensive modifications). PM me if that's something you're interested in. |

I had a 128i and 328i, both with a BMW Performance exhaust and they both sound great. Both cars were in my stable at the same time for a few months.
The 1er was a bit louder, I'm guessing due to the shorter length from the engine to muffler. Both exhausts NLA and are rare on the second hand market and are equally "coveted" imho. I'd try to swap with mad1stgen so you have the proper muffler for your chassis.

Longshot but do you still have your 135i PE? Would love to take it off your hands.

Not sure if the Y-pipe design of the Berk affects sound or drone at all, but I'd personally get a muffler delete with a Vibrant resonator. You'll get the weight savings of the MD, and the res should eliminate the bit of drone that comes with it. Shouldn't run you more than $150-$200 with tips and the res, and you can sell the other two for decent profit.
