Someone mentioned in another post that we will be getting a diesel but that it will probably come over in the 5 series first, correct me if i'm wrong. This would probably mean we will eventually get a 1 series diesel, just not in the first year of production unfortunately.

Europe seems to be a very different standard when in comes to reliability compared to the US. Probably because they have the French and Italian cars to lower the expectation. Notice that among the cars mentioned are VW Golf, Audi A6, and Jaguar XJ. These cars don't do so well in the US reliability surveys like CR and JD.
I'm not saying that the 1 will be very unreliable, but I'm just saying that realistically it will most likely to be another BMW, at around industry average when it comes to problem per vehicle. Even this is a good thing, as not many european cars can say this. |

Speaking of reliability, I'm wondering how the twin turbo diesel in the 123d will fare over time? How has the 120d's engine done in regards to reliability? Unfortunately when it comes to diesels it's like the Dark Ages here in the US. |

Most GM and Ford brand score much better in the CR reliability survey than MB and VW. The notion that American cars, and also Korean cars, are the worst in reliability is no longer true, but I'm sure it will persist for many more years, just as many people still believe MB's are built like tanks.

At least the MB diesels are built like tanks...they are like the energizer bunny, they keep going and going and going...
Heck, The Cummins power plant they put in Dodge PUs have been known to hit over 500K. I guess the only question that comes to mind is... "If you have a car that will go for say- 300K miles. Would you get bored?':iono: Kutch |
