*Urgent* Anyone here use AAA to insure their 1er?
I just got the car, got home, call AAA to tell them to add my new 135i to my policy. I gave them my VIN, the guy said the VIN is WRONG!:bs:
I check and double and triple check, it said exactly as I told him. He said what BMW is it, I said it's a 135i, and that guy said there's no BMW 135, do I meant the 335, I said NO. Then he said he can't help me, I've to go to a local AAA branch. I know they'll insure my new car for 30days from the day of purchase, but I'm scared to drive my new 135i since I don't know if sh*t happens, and then they say they won't insure it cause it's not in the system... them I'm SOL. So, anyone here insure their 1er with AAA? Did you experience the same problem? I live in SoCal if that matters... Help Please! Thanks in advance |

I don't have AAA, but had the same situation. Fortunately, I went through the same VIN issue a couple of years ago insuring my other BMW. They kept asking for the correct VIN even though all my paper work and the VIN on the car was correct. Eventually got a rep on the phone who told me that DMV hasn't registered it yet and to give them some time. The insurance company verifies it with them. It all worked out.
So this time when my insurer said that my 135's VIN was invalid, I told him that its happened before my and he was cool with it. Good luck and congratulation on getting your 1er! |

It's a new model. They just don't have their system updated. It's not your car, it's your insurance company. There have been several people on here who have had trouble getting online quotes for the same reason.

Ditto with the others - no issues with AAA and they're crazy cheap (for me anyway) compared with Geico and the others - $120/month for both the 128i and a leased Mini for the other half (I'm 33)

Been with progressive for a while now.
Gave them a call when I got it back in April, the girl was confused. I asked to speak to her manager, I was on hold for 2 minutes and the first thing out of her managers mouth was the quote for same coverage as my last car. And it was cheap. So yeah, if you are having issues just ask to go a little bit higher. As for the VIN: same thing. Got a letter in the mail, waited a week, called them and they said it was already corrected. |

Progressive also could not find my VIN so they took the info and eventually came back with a lower rate then on my 06 E90. It's not uncommon for new vehicles and new year vehicles, especially not mass produced ones.
