jack point inserts?

so my jack points are plastic hollowed out squares that look like they accept an insert for a jack

am I missing something? should I have inserts for them?

I need to install mudflaps but got stuck when I tried to figure out how to jack the car up

That's because they are made to be used with the BMW jacks. An old baseball glove worked for me.

I use blocks of wood in between the jack and the plastic jack point. Seems to work alright.

I cut a piece of scrap wood to fit the plastic insert for use with my existing floor jack. I carry it in the trunk just to be safe.

I rolled my car up on a couple of 2x10's so my jack would fit. Worked well. One extra step. I have no idea how to jack up a lowered car.

I have a hockey puck that I cut up on my bandsaw to fit the jacking point recepticle.

I know there was somebody on e90post was selling billet aluminum pads that they made up to fit on most floor jack heads and they have a piece the goes into the indent.

These guys made some aluminum billet jack points for the MINI that are also shorter than stock for better jack clearance. Maybe those would work with the 1 also or they could make some up. THey are a little pricey IMO, but they do seem to work well from what I have read online.

You can get them for BMWs too here for $25. They look like nice pieces too.

Keep in mind that the piece you linked is an adaptor that will fit into the jack points and the cup of a floor jack (and is actually quite cool btw). The others are actually replacement jack points that are shorter than the stock ones.

Drive up on 2X4's then you can hit the center jackpoint no problem with a decent pulley jack...

Then throw some stands up front on the 2 jack pts.. then lift from the back center jack point straight up and slide to more jack stands under the back 2 jack points...

This is what I did to get all 4 tires off at once!

Anyone tried these? I saw them on the website when I checked out the jack point inserts. I am debating getting a torque wrench to do up my lug nuts or a set of these.

Ever tightening your wheel & wonder if you have it torqued to the right settings? These Schwaben torque sockets take the guess work right out of the equation. Just tighten away & Schwaben torque socket will ratchet when the appropiate torque has been reached.
Come withs 17mm 19mm & 21mm 1/2" impact sockets. Kit comes in nice compact plastic blow case.

Preset for 100Nm 74ft-lbs

you can use a torque wrench for anything.. simple choice. i have 3 torque wrenches.

I emailed the company and this is what I was told:
"Thank you for the inquiry, unfortunately those jack pads only work on the new E90 chassis."

I made two of these at work to fit on a low profile aluminum jack. A little different than the ECS version, I made the pad larger diameter and made it cupped to fit the jack pad.

If it doesn't move and should, use the WD-40. If it shouldn't move and does, use the duct tape. Driving e82, e72, e85, R53 Gone but not forgotten.. 1974 2002, many various 3s.
