Stock turbos same as Mitsubishi?
I have an oil feed line leak and will likely be having all of the oil and coolant lines replaced. This is a turbo out job so I’m wondering if I should get the turbos changed while they’re out and save on the labor. Car has 54k miles, stock tune. Is this worth doing now or should I just have them put the turbos back in?
I see genuine turbos are $2700 each plus core charge, which is ridiculous. But apparently Mitsubishi is the OEM supplier and makes the stock turbos for bmw. But theirs are $1100 and no core required. Does anyone know if these are the exact same turbo as the genuine bmw but without the stamping? I have confirmed they’re made in Germany, so it may be out of the same factory. Let me know if anyone has dealt with this yet. Thanks |

Yes, the OE turbos are Mitsubishi units (aka MHI / MHIET, mitsubishi heavy industries - engine and turbochargers subdivision). The difference between them and genuine BMW are the branding and markup.
I'd put new ones too if I had to take them off. |
