My car is not electronically limited
Well I passed the 260 KM/H mark today and touched the 270 KM/H mark and not limiter kicked in. It reached 270KM/H with no troubles at all and it's very stable

Yeah, roughly. Even though U.S. cars are limited to 155mph, I'm sure you'll see 160mph on the speedo. Get a GPS if you want the actual speed.

Middle Eastern Market vehicles have many features that Europe and American markets do not; it would not surprise me in the least if Saudi Arabian 1ers wern't limited.

It's limited, it's just that there's enough error in the speedometer at that speed for it to hit the peg before the limiter kicks in. Mine hit at 154.8MPH on the GPS and the needle was buried.

I got that you were kidding, but that made me LOL! Thanks for the chuckle - I needed it badly.

is the GPS on my mobile phone accurate enough? if it is then I will do 100 km/h and see how much difference there is.

270 kmph is 169mph. If actual speed is only 149mph like most people, that represents nearly a 9% error, much much much higher than other people have seen. Also, 170mph represents a very close approximation of the top end allowable by the rpm red line and 6th gear ratio. When you factor in wind resistance, it sounds perfectly plausible that an unlimited 1er could close in on 170mph.

Lol, if you have enough money, there are no speed limits.

well I checked on my Phone GPS, and the error is 4% so that means when I was doing 261 I was actually doing 250.56 km/h which means that the limiter should have kicked in.

I did a top end run during ED and it topped out at 238 km/h (~148 mph) on my TomTom. Indicated a little over 155 on the speedo... (after the break-in period, about 1650 on the odometer)
My brother got it on video on his digital camera, but it is kinda hard to see. The car has Msport package, so it should have the so called 'increased top speed limiter'. Oh well, I probably won't get too many chances at that kind of speed over here anyways. But still... |

Since others have had different experiences I guess there may be something wrong with the car, but it won't show up here for a couple more weeks. I can just see the service department now... "We were not able to replicate the problem, ect." Like I said, it will probably never be an issue over here, but is still kinda annoying. |

No, it's the actual limiter where the ECU kills power. On a lot of sports cars the limit is set based on the tires rating they come with. In this case all the 135s sold in the US get Z rated tires (as far as I know) and I'm pretty sure all of them have the 155MPH limiter in place. There has been some debate about what the 128i gets, as well as the convertables. |

Correct me if I'm wrong, but aren't U.S. cars with the Sport Package limited to 150, not 155?
I think I read that somewhere... Next person who heads to the dyno should test it out!

I think m-sports package increases your actual cutoff speed. Because your redline is higher on m packaged 128s
