White Smoke on startup
My 1er is just hit 100k, been noticing white smoke in the Am and while the car is warming up. Its not a crazy amount, but deff noticeable. I have an extended warranty that covers the turbos, so if the seals are going i want to replace while i can. Is there any way to check?

White smoke
It's probably a fuel injector that is leaking into the cylinder (that was the case for me). If you get white smoke, fluctuations in idle RPM, high vibrations from the engine bay on start up those are the symptoms. If you can still drive the car it means your leak rate is low but at one point you'll notice that your car will start but is not drivable and your check engine light will come on. I'd get it checked out because the consequence of the condition could be further engine damage.

The problem being a fuel injector is an educated guess. You won't be able to get anything covered under warranty without first bringing the car in and letting the dealer take a look and make a diagnosis.

100k? on the car? hum....it could be anything.
White smoke could be injector. Take it to a local shop that you trust and have them take a look. A quick look at the spark plugs will be a good indication of what is going on. Crossing my fingers it's not a blown head gasket |

My car is doing the same shakes on a cold start, to the point that the Engine Light has come on a few times, and a few times I've had NO power. My car also has a slight studder when idling now, and just today I ran into what was either massive misfires, or a fuel shorter at high load high RPMS (over 4k RPMS in 4th).
So places for us to start are injectors, high pressure fuel pump, or possibly even coils. Does anyone know what tools I need to read the codes when the Engine Light appears? |

Assuming you drive the car daily, check your coolant level on a daily basis when the engine is cold of course. See if the coolant level drops over the course of a week. If it is dropping, that ain't good. A significant drop in coolant could mean a leaking head gasket.
