is the E90 your first BMW??

just curious,

I wonder if the E90's bringing new people to BMW or just making people buy who've already owned a BMW

First ever for me, after wanting one for 10 years (and patiently driving Hondas during that time).

After almost 2500 miles in my 330i, I know I will never buy anything else.

In a way yes. My previous attempt at buying was in 2000. At that time I felt the 3 series felt too small and at that time the engine specs seemed puny to me so I never bothered to drive it. I ended up with a Lincoln LS8 on a 2 year lease that I couldn't wait to get out of.
The new E90 platform is big enough to do what I need and the whole package is really well done.

I would avoid to buy any car brands other than Mercedes. BMW (and Porsche), if I can help. Most MB and BMW models are of high residual value, and high number of engine variants to choose from; and not a doubt they are all of high degree of safety and plenty of luxury. You own any one of these , you also get a symbol of society status (some wouldnt give a fuuccck of course). I exclude Audi because their cars are mostly not rear drive, worse resale value; but I must admit Audi's FSI Turbo engines are very tempting. A few Japanese cars would fill the gaps of BMW and MB are Toyota MR-S, Mazada MX-5, Honda S2000 because they really comparatively win on the price/quality side. For affordability, practicability and availability view points:
Best saloon goes to MB.
Best sports sedan goes to BMW.
Best Sportcars go to Porsche.

First BMW but the E90 didn't really bring me over. I wanted an E46 for some time but when I finally saved up enough cash the E90 was out.

I'm 30 and the E90 is my 9th vehicle. The previous ones included a few pickups, an SUV, and a couple... well, let's just say there weren't drivers cars. I had an '86 Nissan 300ZX that was fun, though.

My last car (2004 Infiniti G35) brought me to this segment and led the way for my 330i, which is the best vehicle I've owned so far.

So yes, this is my first BMW, but I can easily see it not being my last.

My 3rd BMW after an E30 325i Convertible (auto) and an E34 540i V8 (6 speed manual). I owned both of these for a year each. Had a Peugeot 306 Rallye for the last four years, until the E90 arrived a couple of weeks ago. The Pug could be driven faster down twisty roads than anything before or since.

My 320 is a company car so I will have it for 4 years. I may talk myself into getting an E30 M3 in the meantime though

BMWs are basicly like drugs. You buy one because its a well built and nice car, and then after that you can't really buy anything else but BMWs for the rest of your life...

Personnally, dscond Bimmer in my case. But we've had like 3 Bimmers before in the familly. So I knew for quite a while already I wanted one. I just needed to wait to get the cash. It's my 7th car so far (had in order: Chrysler Reliant k-car, Honda civic hatch '84, Honda civic hatch '92, civic Honda hatch '91 (formerly my wife's car when mine got stolen), Acura EL 2000, BMW E46 330xi 2001 and now E90 330i 2006).

I don't know if the next is going to be another Bimmer. $$$$ will decide ! Sure hope so

I am 35, and this is my 10th car, but my first BMW. I wanted to get one last time I bought a car, but the car just wasn't competitive on price, features and engine power. With the E90, all that changed, and the purchase became a no-brainer. Now I am spoilt for life I am sure.

My 1st Bimmer!

The Story:

Yamaha RX 100 (in India) -> Honda Prelude (in College, junked after collusion) -> Acura Legend Coupe (stolen in NYC) -> Mercury Sable (in distress after bad experience with two previous cars) -> Nissan Maxima (poor man's BMW) -> Mercedes Benz ML320 (safety for wife) -> Finally the car I wanted (kinda, I use to dream about the 540i) 2006 BMW 330i
