Yup! Plus most hotels in Italy like to hold your passport over night. In the very least they need your passport number or they make a photo copy.
Quote:
*Driving on the Austrian(A) autobahns - they require an Austrian autobahnvignette. About eight euros for a ten day sticker. You MUST put the sticker on your windshield or it could cost you a 500 euro fine. Btw it's only a 110 euro fine if you don't have(buy) the vignette/sticker! lol I thought German law was hard! Italy(I) does not require one - they have toll roads though. Be we wll be driving the back roads - ie: no tolls for us! I was surprised to see that Stelvio did not charge for thier mountain pass. IF they did... I did not see where you must pay! lol For Swizerland(CH) you need a autobahnvignette as well. But they only sell one per YEAR. I think it costs around 30 euros. But we shouldn't need one of those, bc we will also be only using back (country) roads. *Route looks awesome but HUGE! I think that will take us a few days to cover. We need to find some good places to stay in or have rest breaks at. Dack |

I just posted my photo of Stelvio. I drove there last month. Maybe it will give us some ideas for next years trip to the Alps.

I had a similar idea: a vinyl logo for the cars. The photo of the stickers on that sign sealed the deal. I know a graphic designer that I'm gonna run a few ideas past...

I had an idea to start with the route map. Also wanted to incorporate the flags of the participants or something similar so as to appeal to all those taking part. Lots of ideas, I know, but I have the long, cold, dark German winter to get this together.

we could call it something over the top like the "1st annual European Zig Zag Road Rally" and like you said...put some flags on it and graphic text like Switzerland and Italy and Austria.
My use of Zig Zag is obviously a take on the crazy road we are rallying on....maybe if this gets big enough, we could eventually close the road and do a Pikes Peak kind of event....think big |

this won't be a race...just a great drive...you & the road...and dealing with the elements like traffic and curves.
There will be 2-3 camera people strategically placed to get some great individual footage of the road and maybe walkie talkies so others can be telling the driver about upcoming traffic...lots of photos and video to memorialize the day. |
