Some options over on the M3 forums (hope this isn't a repost):
http://www.m3post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=590727 I've been looking at options through EAS and they're pretty good.

Coming from Australia that has no need for snow tires. Can anyone tell me why a lot of ppl are opting for smaller and narrower wheel/tire rather than the stock staggered 245/35 R19 265/35 R19 setup? Is this actually a manufacturer's recommended setup?

Narrower tires won't float on top of the snow like wide ones will, but instead will cut into the snow to gain traction.

I mounted the 270 M winter wheels (original BMW set-up) and it looks.... crap
From the side and the front it is OK, I think the wheels are nice for winter wheels, but the rear wheels are far to far inside. Looks pathetic. Spacers are needed, badly! No clue why BMW sells the set-up like this. (fair enough, mine is lowered 0.5cm in the back, but that doesn't really change the looks a lot) |

Mount 20mm spacers rear you have same wide as original. Front are 2mm wider then original.
They had to use one ET value because otherwise they had develop 2 different size wheels. I think they are perfect for winter. I have 20mm spacers only at the rear and now the fitment is perfect. |

I've been looking for snow tires and got a quote from BMW parts dept for 270 M winter wheels and Michelin Alpine PA2. ouch!
Decided to turn the 1M into another garage queen for the winter instead and got this for Snow and Home Depot duties 30+ mpg helps also

I'm going to install the BMW Performance snow melter option on my 1M. That seems far easier that finding decent winter wheels/tires that don't break the bank.
I finally decided to go with a square set-up...VMR 710's 18 x 9.5 et 22 in gunmetal with Blizzak LM-60's 245/40R 18, I really wanted studless ice and snow tires however they are only R rated....

I noticed that your 1M and GTR have turned their backs to the Fit...

Some requested sidewall shots of my winter wheel set up.
This is a Blizzak LM-60 235/35 mounted on a VMR 19x8.5 front wheel. I have 15 mm spacers for the front to approximate OEM fitment. |

Purchased this package from EAS for price similar to ESC OFF except I had to pay additional shipping costs.

Do you guys know if the BMW Wheel & Tire Insurance will cover snow tires we put on the car? Does it have to be a particular tire?
If so, it may affect my and many other's tire choices.. -Crumb |
