One of the guys on e46 fanatics gave the seller a call. He legitimately thinks it's an M3 despite the rego sticker saying 330ci. It sounds like it took some convincing and the owner is going to amend the ad.

" Convo went something like this: Seller - "It's a 335". Me - "No it's not. It's either a 325ci or a 330ci" Seller - "oh wait, let me check.....errr.....hang on.......errr....3-3-0" Me - "You're not familiar with BMWs are you? Yeah definitely not an M3" Seller - "yes it is an M3, it's just got the 330 engine. it's got all the M badging and sills and stuff" Me - "Err no, it's not an M3. Just a 330ci M Sport. Do you understand the difference?" Seller - "No it's an M3, it's got the M badging" Me - "No, yours is a 5 speed steptronic, 3.0L motor, totally different to the M3. They are totally different cars." " I really hope the seller didn't buy that car thinking it was a M3... |

It's got the M badging - so it must be a M3.

Says 330ci in the description. Never hurts to put better model numbers in the title to snag a bigger audience.

He's changed the advert now and the price too.
I basically told him what car he had and how and why it was different to an M3. He's obviously made a genuine mistake, not knowing much about BMWs. Given all of the mistakes, it looks to be a decent car in immaculate condition.. |

Na.. you can get them way cheaper than that.
This one on carsales is listed for $48,750 with only 41K Km's. probably pick up for low $40K's.. http://www.carsales.com.au/private/d...nd=2006|CarAll |

Excellent!
That means my Z4 and my new X3 are both M3's as well! I've always wanted one, and now I have 2!

I think yours are the extremely rare development mules for the Z4M and X3M. I think you can list for $500K a pop.

I might just have to keep them both. One might imagine though that the half way house that the M Division is currently launching with its M550D et al would have been a natural home for the Z4 35is (given its shared motor from the 1M, M bodykit and M suspension, and lots and lots of M badges) If only they had had the idea 18 month earlier... I'd have something with more M credibility than a lot of M badges and the tenuous claim of having a motor that one day was renamed and badged as an M motor. (Mine just has BMW Twinpower on the tappet cover. I want one that has BMW M Power like in the 1M. Perhaps that could be my first customisation )
