Berk Race Exhaust Questions
I just bought my 135 and want to put an exhaust on this week. What are your thoughts on the Berk Race axle back? It looks to me like a simple muffler delete, so do you guys think I could have my local performance shop make something up for cheaper? Also, I've read mixed things on droning...does it drone? bad? It will be going onto a completely stock exhaust. And about how much would having the tips ceramic coated cost me? One last thing, will a balancing tube help with drone?
Any help is appreciated. Last edited by NC135; 02-20-2012 at 01:16 AM.. |

I am with you, basically it just muffler delete, all about brand name. Any mufler can get it done and cant see anything when mount anyway accept the tips. But AFR is like $449 so it's more acceptable.

I snagged my Berk Race from the for sale section here. 270$ plus shipping. Took 15 minutes to bolt on and I can revert back to stock when i want. Mine has the balancing tube, It's a bit louder, but not overly loud, at least with the stock dps and stock mids in place. Does have a nice whoosh at full throttle though. Overall I'm very happy with it.

I also have the one with the balancing tube. No drone.
I've yet to upload some vids with sound when the car is in motion but here's one I did with cold start/idle/and giving it a bit of a boot... |

Thanks man. I found this http://www.evasivemotorsports.com/mm...y_Code=BERK-EX $314 + shipping. Doesn't seem like too bad of a deal. And I guess I could have my local fab shop put a balancing tube on for me.

That's a pretty good price...
Also, despite the pic its still likely to have the balancing tube unless it's REALLY old stock... You're right though... wouldn't be complicated to get it added... |

Oh really? So Berk started putting them on all of them at a certain point? I'm going to call them tomorrow and see if it does indeed have the tube.

To my knowledge, yes...
There was quite a bit of fuss regarding a "French Horn" droning noise early on... Do some searches and you'll see... Berk worked with the early buyers to work out the solution... |

I love my berk race. A friend of mine had a muffler delete fabbed up at a shop and it didn't have the same sound as my berk. I personally hated how it sounded.

Just talked to them on the phone. He couldn't confirm it 100% but he said that they ship directly from Berk and they are always the newest version. So, I think I'm going to go ahead and order.

Is taking the stock muffler off and putting the berk axle back on, or any axle back for that matter, DIY-able? I have all the tools, but none are air driven. How hard will it be to take the stock one off? Oh, and I don't have access to a lift for a few weeks but I was thinking about using ramps...........
