Changing the H8 = Fail
I failed to put back on the bitch cover for the headlamp on the passenger side man.... big time FAIL.... the cover is secure enough to not fall off but I can't seem to align the bottom two holes with the cover inserts. Its half way sealed and should protect enough. What do you guys think I should do I tried aligning it for 2 hours still failed. Any of you guys in the same situation? Will it fall off?
The drivers side was too easy....

use a torch, get it in the 2 inserts first, then its real easy.
the angle you use to get in the two inserts is really flat, almost upright. just remember you you took it out

You can do it the way Noize did it here:
http://www.1addicts.com/forums/showt...=212882&page=2 It took me a few times before I got it connected. Had to take a break and calm down and then tried again. |

I have changed those lights three times and have not had a hard time disengaging the clips any of those times. How are you guys trying to pull them off?

jzhang, give it another try. I did this a while back, I'd never messed with the lights before and I managed to pull it off. It was a struggle, but it'll go back. Take it all the way out and look over everything real close and see if you can see how it's supposed to work, then give it another try.

Yeah I got the error code too. 1-2 hours and my back was hurting and my hands were cut up. I have avoided changing my AE's since....

OP - you want to make sure those covers are back on correctly bc... if not you will get moister in the headlight housing. Then... you might burn up the HID bulb/ballast or worse the headlamp itself has some circuit boards inside the headlight housing. It is BIG $$$$, as in $1500 per side to fix COD. I have a second go at it tomorrow. GL.

I was able to knock both of mine out in about 30 minutes, removed the evap balls on the passenger side, gave me alot more room, and removed the clips and pulled cover up and pulled it out a little bit, not all the way, just enough to squeeze my hand in there and swap in the BMW 4 LED bulb. No problem at all!

Used the "Noize" method to replace mine, but when I was putting the canisters back in my ratchet extension fell down. I have spent the last hour reaching around trying to find it and it is gone! I drove the car around a few times the block to see if it would fall or if I could hear it rattling and it is not, so I hope no damage comes from that!
