I know it's going to bother alot of people to see #740 in this conditon. This is one of the pictures that I had to bid off of.......if you try to look past all the obvious bent sheetmetal, it doesnt look as though there are any major issues......then again.....i wont be sure until its in my shop and on a lift....being that this is a special car i might start a thread and document all the repairs on a daily basis...

A lot of times, believe it or not, the owner of the vehicle has a lot of influence on an insurance adjuster....if the owner uses the "magic words" or is adamant that he wouldn't feel safe being in this vehicle anymore and the adjuster gets the feeling that additional damages would present themselves during the repair process, he or she would total the vehicle out to avoid an unhappy and disgruntled customer in the future..... the posted amount of the estimate was 28k....upon receiving the vehicle I am entitled to a copy of that estimate from the auction....then it will be easy to see what the estimator wrote to be replaced.....
I'm not entirely sure but I think the previous owner of this vehicle might be a present member of this forum...... |

pictures don't even do these stripes justice.....they look even better up close....some people think they're over the top but I disagree....the down side is you get even more attention than being in a vo coupe...everyone wants to race you on the highway...it gets annoying...

if you do start a thread documenting the repairs on this car it would be great. This is by far one of the most interesting threads I have read on the 1M forum. I would be fascinated to see how this amazing car we all own is "put together" so to speak.

I read somewhere in a BMW book about the curse of #740...let's hope you get the car rebuilt and back on the road or that will make my #739 to last 1M built that is still rolling...then the curse passes to me
