Does anyone know a solution to this? Mine rubs at full lock when on an incline. Can the fender liner be moved back a little?

Hi All, thanks to the information posted here, I went to my local BMW Dealer (Niello BMW) and I talked to the service rep about the rubbing issue. I printed off this entire thread and gave it to him. He agreed that it was rubbing, but he wanted the BMW Regional Rep to take a look and review it. Hopefully they'll replace the liner with the new and improved one. Thanks all for the great information

Unfortunately, I don't think there is a new and improved liner. They just replace it with the same one.

My service adviser at Niello BMW just called and said the Regional Rep Ok'd the liner replacement!!! The only caveat is that the liners are coming from Germany and they are on back order for a month, but at least BMW is taking care of it!!!

Mine is getting worse. I really don't want to have them put the same part in there though.

Tach9: is there any indication from the rep that the liner is going to be improved in some way or is it just a replacement of the original liner?

Icrain...my service advisor said that the PN#'s were the same, with no updates to that part, so I'm expecting the "stock" liner. I hope they've made some changes. It would be a PITA to have to go through the same process of replacing the liner every few months

Mine has been like this since I purchased the car (2800 miles), and it has gotten distinctly worse. I would hope to not have to replace this that often. look at me funny when I pull out of a parking spot or make a tight turn in the parking lot.

Are you guys completely stock? Tires, wheels or suspension? I am stock and do not have any rubbing.

No rubbing for me when I had the stock 245-35-19 tires. I upgraded to 255-35-19 tires and the rubbing became apparent. According to some here, even with the stock tire size, they were getting rubbing of the liner. YMMV.

FYI...got the liners replaced. Was told that the "new" liners are designed a bit different to allow more room. They still rub a bit. I do have 255-35-19 Michelin PSS though. Rubbing now is way less pronounced and I suspect after a few more miles it won't rub at all. Only rubs at extreme lock to lock parking maneuvers.

Thanks for the update. I am going to schedule a visit to the dealer, mine rubs like crazy. I get weird looks when parking/tight turns.

The liners, while having the same PN#...looks to be improved. There is a significant scalloped area where the potential rubbing occurs. So far so good...

Nice to note that a thread on an enthusiasts forum can help you move things with your 1M.
