Oil and I suppose water by association. High for me is 130C-145C. I just don't feel too comfortable continuing to push when it gets past 135C.

Mine never gets that hot at the track, they run 20 minute sessions at EC, by the end the needle is just above 120, maybe its the extended sessions?
perhaps you need one of these |

If you are running a tune then your cooling system is no longer up to the job.
A few cheap options are using 0w40 and a water wetter mixture in the radiator. As far as tracking goes, i think the longer the session the better. Water absorbs heat 4x better than air, but you need a constant stream of cool air to exchange the heat from the radiator. When you stop the car you loose that ability to exchange heat (the fan cant work wonders, even the 1M/M3 fan cant save you once static). That said, hot oil and coolant is still cooler than the engine and will still do its job, just not as effectively. Oil that gets too hot loses its viscosity so cant lubricate properly. Edit: Its also not just your engine to be concerned about. The turbos also are oil/water cooled so more psi means more heat that your stock system wasnt designed to dissapate. Shit that's pretty hot! Get a jb4 and turn on max cool, the highest I've seen is 130 and after 5 minutes back under 110.

Max cool won't help you when you're already forcing max air through the radiator at high speed on track. It will help when you slow down or stop & the fan takes over. I always do a cool down lap in top gear/low throttle, trying to keep the speed up a bit to cool the engine oil/water and also trying not to touch the brakes to let them shed some heat before pitting. I can usually shed ~15 degrees oil temp on the cool down lap. My water doesn't get too hot on track but my oil is seeing high 130s.

Agreed! Was a 37C day yesterday and the temps were climbing to just under 145C after 3 hot laps. Pretty crap really. I don't think max cool or anything else is going to resolve that. Peter is interested in developing a 1M specific kit which will consist of a larger/denser PWR front radiator and 2 x denser/large side Setrab oil coolers. We even discussed incorporate a Accusump kit into the oil lines to help with start up protection and oil starvation on track. We're waiting on a test car or for Peter to hurry up and buy a freaking 1M! |

Brakes aren't too bad. We only 2 hard braking corners. The new Ferodo DS2500 pads and Castrol SRF Fluid seem to be holding up quite well - they are quite noisy when hot though. I've ripped through the front tyres this weekend. So need another set of A050s for the front. |

A050s are supposed to heat cycle a bit better over time - if they last long enough! The next track car should be a bit gentler on the tyres so we'll see. |
