Well in that case you are not a buyer for it. It is about $6k in mods (not including labor), so if you are looking for a stock 1M with similar options and mileage, it would be priced at $57k. Not sure if there is a stock one out there as such for $57k, but if yes the price is more than fair. Good luck.

White one for 55k on Autotrader. I'm sure you could get the guy down a few grand as well.

You get what you pay for: 12k miles, no nav, Rock chips on front bumper, scrapes under front bumper for 55k. Even if 53k big difference between this 1M and other examples with fewer miles. Just FYI.

Cars in Mexico are taxed highly, it would cost much more than a clean used one here. You would also have to import it and it's not easy. Big brother is not very sensible. You have to certify that it meets all sort of DOT things, you also have to certify with the state for emissions, etc.
There are a many 1Ms that were purchased as weekend cars by people that had to have the newest thing and are now thinking of selling them now that newer cars are out. While the car is rare with a little patience you will find one for $52-$55K. The one thing you might ask yourself is that this car was the result of the backlash against the super heavy luxury M cars, especially the 5M and 6M which it appears you own. Then you post that you "need" NAV. I have 6 and 10 year old kids that I explain that they need food, shelter, friendship and love. The Pokemon deluxe deck is a "want." I need a car with four wheels to get me to work and take my kids to school and sports practices. My 1M was a "want." The 1M is a little bit of throwback though the M marketing folks added luxury stuff because they were concerned it wouldn't sell otherwise, but it's still far from the SUVs and big luxo GT cars. So the point I'm trying to make is are you sure you really want one? Have you driven one? Finally, the majority of these cars are loaded so that is good for your search but you might also consider that if you do want a more back to basics after the 5M, then don't rule out a no NAV car. In the long term, they are rarer, especially in Black and if you are tall, the Manual seats give you about 1 1/2" more headroom. Good luck with your search. |

Well, I don't think safety is an issue here as much as is the price and work involved. All 1Ms in Mexico are the fully equipped version and cost somewhere around 63-64K. You will have to pay import taxes--however the dealership should be able to waive the ridiculous 16% VAT in that 60+K price if you get them the import paper work. any BMW dealer in Mexico can deliver it to you in any border town dealership, say Tijuana or Laredo. If interested you have to talk to a customs agent in your country and find out how much is the import tax for this car. I guess this is complicated--the bottom line is whether you want a new 1M or a used one. I'm going to the dealership at some point this week, and will ask out of my own curiosity. I live in Mexico City and interestingly there are around four 1Ms left here in the dealerships data bases. like 1AW, 2Black and 1VO. BTW I'm still waiting to receive mine, a beautiful AW-- it is already here, but I'm waiting for a few items that I want changed before getting it out. like the black line rear lights. I will post pictures soon. Yes, for me it is a collection car, I don't have that kind of money though (my everyday car is a shitty pontiac G3), but I was so in love with the 1M that I decided to go for it, even if I'm now regretting the debt. cheers |

Thank you for that write up it was a pleasure reding it. And you're right I don't need anything I do think navigation would be a plus. I have never driven one before but I did go and drive the 135i. And love the feel of having a small little rocketship. I do own a BMW X5m That I use for my wife and my child to get around. My weekend car is a lambo LP 560 Spyder yellow. And just wanted a daily driver that I can zip around with. I feel like the M3 is a little too boring for me. Is it worth getting one without navigation for around 52k or you think it's possible to find one with navigation for 52k? Most of the ones I've seen on the Internet with low miles do not have nav. And you're hundred percent right. I need nothing lol lol lol

Keep in mind the DOT is the same agency that forced people importing the Ferrari F40 to take out the Ferrari 6 point harness and retrofit it with an automated sliding lap and shoulder belt combination because it was "safer" and it was the "law." Common sense is NOT something that exudes from these people. I am speaking from 30 years of the family business. |
