Hi peter, is it possible for a 6mt 135 to use the shorter ratio 6at diff? Say if they bought a 6at drive shaft that was just lying around at advan, would fit easily?
From experience, the shorter ratio is a much better option than stock. Mine is 3.85 and it is perfect for 6at. |

NOT GONE the 335 we have here today has the big diff so no swap, needs to be an 08 on 335i or 135i it seems that 99% of the 335i steps up to 11/07 have the large diff.
So all step 335i from 01/08 have the small diff same as the 135i step Last edited by Kiwi Peter; 05-22-2013 at 05:42 PM.. |

have you seen the small diff's die under power? i know there's a fair few 6AT's that have seen pretty decent power, i haven't seen much on the diff failing though? |

I can only find broken halfshafts via wheel hop on the rear-end side of things Going m3 wouldn't be too bad, but then m3 halfshafts instead of driveshaftshop... And then i'm not sure about the rear brake setup.. Eh i'll just follow your journey for that stuff haha Your diff would be welded though no? Rather not have a welded >_< And i'm trying to avoid MUCH longer final drive too |

You can retain the oem 135i brake setup AFAIK with the m3 rear end. My oem 335i has a large pumpkin bolted diff |

The manual is a direct connection which doesn't have the 'softening' effect of the torque converter, especially when you think about the smack between full bore gear changes.

expensive... i'd just rather not change from the 3.46fd is my main thought haha Quote:
true, true - i'm trying to find any results on broken 188mm diffs - found a few results saying they should be good for 800+whp/500ft-lb+, which should suit me alright - E36 M3 turbo guys run the 188mm, some people choose to go to the 210mm |
