Need help: Koni w/ performance spring, swift spring or KW V2, street comfort
Hi guys. I'm planning to firm up my car a bit by upgrading the suspension but I'm confuse on which route should I choose. My first option is linear lowering spring, such as performance spring, swift spring with Koni yellow. My second option is progressive adjustable dampening coilover.
Basically both options have the same dampening adjustability but coilover will allow me to adjust the height as well. I'm not tracking my car but I might join one or two drag strip or autoX event. I'm not looking to slam my car, but just mild drop and that's why KW street comfort is one of my options. I'm running aggressive setup up front, that's why I'm not willing to get progressive spring unless on coilover (planning on camber plates before spring/strut upgrade). Any picture and recommendation are highly welcome. Appreciate your help guys! Thank you!

I wish I had gotten a much stiffer linear spring in a coilover system. I'm still messing with the height of my coils a little and I've had them 4ish years. My KW V1's ride great but I doubt even going to a V3 would make it stiff enough for me, especially because to some degree I want them stiffer to help with my tire rubbing problems.
I guess I can still convert to a linear spring now but it would have been cheaper to have done it initially. I guess when I get close to 100k miles and I'm ready for replacment, I'll call Harold at HPA, tell him what I want and I'm sure he'll help me get it right.

You can't go wrong with Koni yellows and swift springs . I love my set up.

I thought I remembered seeing where someone had ordered a Swift spring designed to replace the normal KW springs. That's what I'd want so I could still adjust my ride height.
KW V1s ride great, maybe 50% less roll than stock but seem similarly soft on small bumps, etc. I'm sure Koni's with Swifts will ride harsher than KWs. I'm used to driving Porsches and Vettes so I doubt I would mind it at all.

KW SC will be out of my option since I'm not goihg to coilover route just to keep the rubbing due to softness. I'm going to install dinan plates sometime next week, hopefully the result can make it even clearer whether to go with coil or other combo

I’d personally advocate for V1s or STs, since you’re not in a place where they salt the roads the STs would be perfect (no need to worry about rust). I’ve been extremely impressed with the ride quality of STs; the dampening is crisp under load but not jarring in the city.
But if you’re not interested in a full coilover setup, Konis w/ Swift springs and camber plates would be pretty sweet.

To the OP... I would highly recommend the the Koni/Swift. It is affordable, performance oriented, quality built, and will be great for those occasion autox, and even track, days. Zombie has a good review up so make sure to look at that. Let us know if you have any other question! -Mike |

Yes, as long as you use OE or a sport type of spring. You will have to purchase Dinan parts from Dinan, however. |

Have the Konis with swift and dinan camber plates. Paired with M3 bits it handles great on the steet and track. I get -2.5 degrees front camber with this set up. I previously had the M sport suspension. Then moved to the BMW performance springs and finally to the swifts. The drop looks great. I would say .5 inch drop from the M sport springs.

That is good information for the community to know as many are wondering how much the Swift Spec-R lower the sport suspension. 0.5" lower than sport and 1" lower than none sport. |
