I have owned two 128's, an '09, and a '13. I wanted a stick and M-Sport, both times. In both cases, I ordered the car.
Finding a stick 128 on a dealer lot hardly ever happens. I think that the dealer mindset is that people buy a 128 because they can buy a "cheap" BMW. They overlook that a stick 128 with Sport/M-Sport is a fun car to drive on an everyday basis. It is the kind of driver profile that BMW used to cater to. Nowadays, not as much. |

However, like you said, once I decide to move on to the next car, I think it will be easier for me to sell an automagic to the average person since most people are afraid of a 6MT. |

You are probably right about that. If and when I would decide to sell my '13, I think that I will put it in the classified ads in Roundel magazine first. I imagine that there are plenty of Roundel readers who can see the value in such a car.

I've been looking recently (my fiance's lease is up soon and was thinking of getting her a used 128i) and there have been quite a few pop up on autotrader. This is in the Atlanta, GA area though. |

I live in a small town, and if I am stopped at three red lights in a row, it is rare. So, I don't have the angst of driving a stick in city traffic.
Many of you are in a different situation than I. I will think about replacing my winter-beater Focus (a stick, too) in a year or so. Might think about a auto, for those odd days when 60-something knees and feet are complaining. |

I'm in the market for a manual 128i, low miles still under warranty, and it is a long and hard search. I found a great one, but no sport package. Trying to figure out how easy the swap is to put the 135i sport suspension springs and shocks in the 128i. Anyone know if it is a straight swap?

When I was looking for mine ( us spec in Germany ) I found one. Mine. And I would rather have the 6MT without the sport package then the auto with the sport package. Good luck with your search. It's easier to install better suspension then do an auto to manual swap.

Reading this thread makes me happy. Also will make me happy in 10 years when everyone is driving automated BMWs that have no road feel and all the 135s have blown up.

I don't have the need whatsoever to pretend my 1 is an M. It runs pretty damn well against your Z just fine, right off the factory floor thank you. 135 is my daily driver/ foul weather car anyway.

Again another thread were 135i owners must prove their superiority. Quit quoting lap times done by other drivers and start posting your own. A car is only as fast as it's driver.

At least I have valid proof. Even if so, the open diff is a huge downfall. Just because the car can accelerate at the same rate =/= everything else a track can offer. |

As a I said, the 1 is my DD and still under warranty so as of now it hasn't seen the track but it likely will once its free and clear of the warranty. My weekend car has but I choose not to go into that for my reasons at this time.
The open diff certainly is a detriment on the track but interesting enough, even with the several disadvantages of not being an M car or a sports car for that matter the 135 can run around a race track with the Z4m, not just talking accelerating either. Everything was fine in the thread till Boston Lou felt the need to take a swipe at the 135 for no reason. That will often bring a response in kind. |

Why do you feel the need to defend yourself when someone takes a stab at any 135i? Inferiority? We 128i owners get the same crap from 135i owners. Suck it up cupcake! Until you can back up your comments with personal lap times your the hype guy! Standing on the shoulders of those who do, not just say.
