130 LMB M Sport First Post
Hi All
First time owner - previously coming from Civic Type-R Ep3/ Mondeo ST 220/ Renault Megane r26. didnt really want my first post to be a question related to a problem. Thought I would post here first as this was the very forum that lead me to buying a bmw 130 in the first instance. (thats a lie, it was this and another 2 forums).. It sounds like a belt/pulley/tensioner problem but listen to this video...what are your thoughts. http://s267.photobucket.com/user/lin...ary/1annabee30 mainly happens when starting up, occasionally happens after starting up and driving for 10 minutes if that. During that noise, should I try to accelerate it feels like something is dragging it back.... currently at 62k, service due next month. 55 plate. |

Engine bay video sounds alot like the imfamous n52 tick. It goes away with longer drives and really causes no issues. 70% solution is a new head, but even that will develop tick again over time. There are videos on youtube and e90post, have a listen
Car interiour video sounds very loud, so I dont know if its still the n52 tick. Reminds me of exhaust rattle Welcome to the forums

It may be the pulleys/ tentioner cable OR somethign to do with flywheel/clutch
I recall a recent 135i or 335i video in these forums that reminded me of your noise and they were discussing the above mentioned parts in some way

we threw it into the garage couldnt diagnose where the noise may have come from. Im going to just replace all belts pulleys tensioners etc...maybe do the waterpump while its open.

How many miles? Waterpumps seem to operate on a 50,000 mile cycle on these engines.
