motor help
I was driving my car home tonight and got about 8 miles from the shop, I came up to a stop light and upon accelerating away from it my check engine light comes up yellow and when I give her any gas is shutters, now I can drive it any speed and in any gear, I just have a terrible shutter, so I drive another 10 miles to home and as I turn onto my street I turn the heater motor down and the check engine light goes out and all is well.. wth??? anyone!

My shuddering issue in my 128 came from a combination of things. I ended up doing all 6 coils and plugs and Eccentric shaft sensor at the front of the valve cover had some oil in it, so I replaced that as well. I was getting serious shuddering at lower rpm's, started out only when I punched the gas, as time went on even regular acceleration the same feeling became apparent.
Any maintenance records as far as last tune up? |

First step should be to check codes. You should find a record even if the check engine light is not still illuminated. My favorite way is with Torque on my tablet.

I vote for ignition coil.. Runs rough all the time? Slow to start at all? Usually the shuddering is a coil or two, but a long/hard start is the Eccentric shaft sensor Billup mentioned.. which is very expensive

Blown coil...which is covered under warranty.
Best self check, go to autozone and read your codes...then swap the potential problem ignition coil (determined by the misfired cylinder) with another cylinder and see if the code travels to that cylinder. That is...if it is indeed a blown coil. I blew a coil in my Z4M and it went into limp mode. |
