n55 w/ catless downpipe. Inspection issues?
So Im thinking of adding a downpipe to my n55 135i and am wondering if anyone has done this and run into inspection issues in the Boston area?
Every downpipe Ive seen for the n55 has been catless, so I just want to know if I'll pass inspection or if I'll have to swap it every year. thanks in advance!

Does the DP Fix work on N55's?
If not then you would need to swap them out each year to pass OBDII readiness inspection. I've read that high flow catted DP's will pass inspection for a year or two...after that they tend to fail OBDII readiness. |

Unless there is a tune that codes out the readiness monitor (im new to bmw from audi so not sure whats out there), no. You would fail unless you swapped back at inspection time.

thanks guys, looks like Im leaving my exhaust alone for now, or at least until I can afford a catted DP.

I got sent to the MAC center this year in my evo and I usually pass without hassle. Let me just say that experience sucked SO MUCH that I'll never run catless anything again. I even had a high flow cat and still had a LOT of work to do just to pass inspection again finally.

just do your inspection early, before you install the DP and then you will just have to swap back a year later for the next inspection...thats what i do.

I'll just deal with a quiet exhaust I guess.

I was talking to one of the guys at **********s and he is recommending the Wagner DP which is catted and isn't crazy expensive and they claim you should be able to pass inspection (at least here in CA). Haven't seen anyone running it though.

MAC- Its a inspection station you will be forced to go to that checks everything visually and test all your emissions....It's a nightmare

Yeah makes sense to me. I forced readiness on the evo once and then bam sent to MAC center for physical inspection of everything before I was cleared to get inspected again.
