Hoses are very subjective for feel. Some people say it does not make a single difference. When my 335i calipers get here I am going to replace the hoses for the SS hoses because I just have a new set sitting in a box from last year. Also the used calipers I bought have 50k on them. Maybe it will be okay to replace them anyway. Gonna have to bleed the brakes after install, so why not.
Unless someone here would like to buy the Goodridge G-stop brake lines off me for $150 shipped, I have no objections!

I have the Goodridge brake lines and I can assure you the do a real difference. On street I'm not sure you could notice if if you drive slow.
For example, before this installation and before the Motul RBF600, after like 30 minutes of racetrack, the pedal was sloppy and I have and important fading. Then after the installation, the brakes were biting more on the road. On racetrack even after one hour of high use, the brake feeling was still the same and was still strong Hope it can help !

Nope, the very first times I was on the track was with OEM fluid and lines.
IMO, it's better putting ss brake lines with high performances fluids : it will heat much more than OEM one (without dicreasing its faculities). Due to that, the temperature of the circuit will increase and if you have still the OEM lines (which are in some plastic polymer), their section will increase. If you have some ss lines, the melting point of the metal is much more higher, it won't deform because of the increased temperature. That's why I think it's a great combo and the fading isn't here anymore thanks to the combination of these two mods

What's the full part number? Also what's this carrier ? Does one need a new carrier for these 42mm calipers?

34216768698 Right Carriers are 34216768696, same as the stock 128i (no change in rotor diameter or thickness, just larger piston bores), but at $4.95 each from ECS, why not replace? Again, the calipers are ATE and stamped BMW (which I'm sure they can not advertise) and I'd bet the carriers are ATE/BMW too. |
