Its 100% safe as far as engine damage and stuff like that. The reason I put mine back and eventually got a real blow off valve was because the oil makes a cosmetic mess. Nothing more. Just little sharts of oil every now and then. If someone took the time to make a filter, this would be what I was running instead of a BOV, but I couldn't find a filter so I just got a real BOV to keep it simple.

Take the cowl off, should be able to do it after that (2 screws each side, 6 on cabin filter), or are you talking about another piece?

These fit, have them on the BOVs on my car. The filters condense the oil and prevent splash across your engine bay. Wipe them every once in a blue moon and you're good to go. It also blows people's minds to see four seperate cone filters side by side in the engine bay.

Was in the engine bay. Here's what it looks like. Prevents all 'oil sneeze' but still gives the sound.

For those of you apparently too young to remember, until Federal emissions laws prohibited it, this is how the crankcase was ventilated - open to the air.
It is completely illegal now under both Federal law and most states as well. Don't leave it this way if your state inspects the car for smog checks, as you won't pass. |

"Yes, but luckily those living in SC or states like it don't have to undergo ANY kind of smog or inspection, EVER."

I will be trying this on my Forge DV's as soon as I get an OCC. Does anyone have a video of them done this way? I imagine it sounds like stock just a bit louder.

Did this on Turkey day while at the parents waiting for the turkey to finish cooking
Super simple and easy but just wanted to share the make shift filter I made out of a thin loafer sock and a zip-tie for the now exposed open diverter valve hose. Not the prettiest thing but this has two benefits going both ways: keeps dirt and debris from going into the open hose and also catches any oil blow-by coming out from getting all over the engine bay and making a mess. So far no oil stains on the filter/sock so I guess its a good sign that my car doesn't have bad oil blow-by |

I've been running my oem DV like this since I got my car in May and it doesn't sneeze any oil at all? Is it because I have a catch can?

After I cap the front and the rear with the 7/8 plugs do I also have to cover the two lines I removed? Can I put a small filter at the end of each etc..?

No, but it may spray some oil. You can however take the hose off the DV and put a filter on there.
