2008 128i
My dealer has a 128i with 127000kms on it with premium, executive and sport packages. I've been toiling with the idea of having a 128i for a track day car. They're asking 12000 CDN for it. Anything I should look at in great depth before buying? They're doing a basic safety but it won't be sold as CPO.
I test drove the car and it felt solid, the engine made a ticking noise while idling in the cold. Same sound my injectors make on my N20. There is also scuff damage to both corners of the front bumper. Inside it's fairly clean, seats aren't ripped but the shifter has some damaged plastic on it. Lemme know what you guys think.

Check the service history to see if the water pump / thermostat has been replaced. BMW should be able to pull it if the service was done at a dealer.
http://www.1addicts.com/forums/showthread.php?t=798195 You also may want to check if the VIN is under the VANOS recall and if this service has been done. A new shift knob and boot is about $150, easy install, best to upgrade to the ZHP weighted shifter anyway.

I have a 2008 128 too.
BMW or other major dealer=good. Small indy dealer=not so good (I work at a car auction, small indies usually get the leftovers) Maintenance records are important; ticking in engine may mean not enough oil changes. The car is good, so too the price ONLY if its been looked after. What brand tires on car? That'll tell you something about the previous owner. I always try to buy privately. A good independent inspection is important. |

I passed on this car, decided to keep my money for a new home instead.
