In the interest of fairness, one of my cheapo chinese ebay bulbs died last night. No big deal.
Ordered the "arc angels" from BMS. They come with a lifetime guarantee for $29 shipped. |

Well I updated that my shitty amazon bulbs with chinese writing all over them had one go out lol. Replaced them with arc angels and they are doing great. The other bunch of cars I've coded have had 0 issues, so I'll call that one a reminder to not use shitty bulbs.
The arc angels are doing great. |

Just wanted to update:
1 year of driving with rings coded to highest setting. Have PIAA Yellow bulbs in there now and everything is holding up great. No deformations of the housing or any kind of discoloration occurring despite what LUX "foretold". The bulbs fit as well as the originals did 5 years ago. They look absolutely great and the visibility is through the roof.

Mine still looks great as well. My cheapo chinese no name brand died FAST, thats fair. My arch angel BMS ones, one died after a few months. To the best of my knowledge my OEM ones are factory originals, and they are still alive and well. Bulb brand/quality definitely matters.
The voltage isn't killing mine, shitty bulbs did. The oem ones are doing just fine at the higher voltage and still look great. |

The majority of cars run regular 55w halogen bulbs at 13/14 volts for their headlights and don't deform housings.
The cause of lenses discolouring is not using UV filtered bulbs - all good bulbs should have UV filtering so I wouldn't worry unless you are buying from ebay. Steve |

What is dis-functional about a thread offering good info for free? Sorry you can't use the app I guess, but you could have gotten a $50 android tablet if you asked before you bought the LEDS. Hope you don't have the adaptive headlight failure issue. My biggest headlight fear, and rightfully so. |

Oops.
Darkrom, you are a true pioneer in this hidden coding arena. I see you have been quite proactive helping other 1addicts, with this thread. You have passion.
I am just looking at my options. I have been down modding BMW's and sometimes Bimmers can be bummers. I really meant to post this pic. I tells my dilemma... in a funny way. Keep digging, cracking the code. |

Working on cars is still working on cars. The tools just change with technology. Forums like this, google, and youtube a great place to learn new skills as cars advance.

revival (rather than start a new thread)
S&A, I'd love to see a pic of the yellow halos and shoot me a pm about mud flaps, how'd you get the front to fit well specifically. On my car, using NSC Dummy, I have nothing in the NFRM module about the halos or any obvious synonym. I do have fog lights though. It's active and mentioned many times over. But I have a 135i that never had fog lights. So should I assume this is just a translation error, or change in wording over the years? |

Ok maybe I overlooked, but I do not see a link to the halogen bulbs you guys are using? Will this work for those that have bi-xenon headlamps?

I fully accept that I may be asking a semi idiotic question - but can one properly code headlights using a JB4 via USB?
I am inexperienced with coding (clearly) but have a JB4 and the data cable, don't really feel like purchasing BMW Carly if I don't have to! Thanks! -Tom

Can you manually fold your mirrors with a button on the door panel?
